CONGRATULATIONS to Ansley Boyd in Mrs Gunter's 4th grade class for winning this year's yearbook cover contest!!!

It has come to our attention that there are some concerns regarding the design of the Jefferson Academy Fitness Awareness shirts, particularly with the phrase Fitness Never Quarantines. We sincerely apologize and did not intend for the message to be offensive or insensitive in any way. Our intent was to encourage students to continue to remain physically active even during quarantine. Our goal is to focus on the overall well-being of our students and staff, and we appreciate the support from our parents and community. We are working to redesign the shirt and will send updated information as soon as possible.

There is always fun, hands-on learning in Ms. Royal's class! Today, students studied the movement of molecules in different states of matter and temperatures.

The Jefferson City School System has monitored the weather throughout the night and will delay school opening for two hours. On the roads this morning, there are several trees down and debris present. These conditions make travel difficult. Delaying for two hours will provide better visibility for safe travel for buses and car riders.

Say hello to our Transportation Department! This week we celebrated #SchoolBusDriverAppreciationWeek. Next time you run into one of our drivers, crossing guards, bus monitors, or shop personnel, be sure to thank them!

5th graders visited the STEAM Center during Digital Literacy and learned about plant vs. animal cells. Students used a virtual reality learning experience called ZSpace, identified what plant and animal cells have in common, and colored with spinach leaves to see evidence of chlorophyll. Ms. Mitchell's 4th grade students learned about the Earth's rotation with "As the World Turns." Students stood in the same place, traced their shadows, observed the pattern, and predicted what the next shadow would look like.
