Before computers were around to guide embroidery machines, people would punch designs on paper tape, like the old computer punch cards. The tape would run through the machine, telling it where to go. The Lazy Daisy Stitch is a common stitching technique used to decorate clothing with flower petals. The looped stitch can be found on any floral pattern, and if employed in a line, will be referred to as a chain stitch.
