Good Afternoon, Here's the latest from US National Weather Service Peachtree City. What's Changed A Special Weather Statement has been issued for the wintry precip threat for portions of North and Central Georgia for Monday morning through early Tuesday morning. ... Overall, the potential for impactful wintry precip has slightly decreased since the last update, with the approaching low-pressure system shifting a little further south, away from the forecast area, which will limit overall moisture in our area. The exact track of the low-pressure system is still uncertain. A shift back towards the north could still bring increased winter potential to North Georgia (i.e. We're not letting our guard down just yet!) Details Temperatures in the lower 30s in north Georgia on Monday morning may allow a mix of Rain and Snow Temperatures in the low to mid-30s will then return Monday evening into Tuesday morning in North Georgia, allowing some mix of Rain and Snow which may have more difficultly accumulating with temperatures just above freezing. Forecast snow accumulations remain up to 0.5" possible for locations above 1500 feet, otherwise a trace to light accumulations possible for areas in far North Georgia. The combination of wet roadways (especially where melting snow is present) and temperatures in the low to mid-30s may lead to a few slick spots on bridges and overpasses Tuesday morning. At this time, impacts are still expected to remain relatively limited. See Graphics Modeled precipitation on Monday Not to be used for specifics, but for a general overview of the upcoming weather system. This model, the Advanced Research WRF, is relatively aggressive compared to the average model but shows where Rain/Snow mix could be possible.

Good morning Jefferson!!! Here is this latest from National Weather Service Peachtree City. What's Changed: Expected snowfall amounts and confidence has increased in the forecast across the higher elevations of northeast Georgia for this evening through Friday, which has warranted an upgrade from the previous Winter Storm Watch to a Winter Storm Warning from 7PM this evening to 7PM Friday. Issuance is for Murray, Towns, Union, White, Lumpkin, Dawson, Gilmer and Fannin count...ies (Pickens Co. removed and Murray Co. added). 2-4 inches of snow and up to one-tenth of an inch of freezing rain for mainly elevations above 1500 feet are expected. Areas below 1500 feet within the warned area could also have some lighter accumulations and minor impacts. Overview: A low pressure system will bring rainfall to much of the area starting this afternoon. A transition of rain to light freezing rain and snow is expected across portions of northern Georgia this evening into Friday. The mountains across northern Georgia have the highest potential to see this rain/snow mix and the highest potential for accumulating snow and light freezing rain in the northeast above 1500 feet (2-4 inches, with locally higher and up to a tenth of an inch of ice). Accumulating snow on roadways may cause slick or hazardous road conditions. NOTE: These areas (and amounts) are subject to change with future forecasts! Across the rest of northern Georgia (generally north and west of I-20/I-85), periods of a rain/snow mix will be possible overnight tonight and into early Friday, but air temperatures are forecast to remain above freezing restricting any accumulations, limiting impacts across these areas. Precipitation looks to end by the early afternoon on Friday, though refreezing temperatures could result in some continued slick roadways Friday night. We will continue monitor any changes and keep everyone updated. Have a Great Day... Officer L.Deese
