The Georgia EPD has lifted the City of Summerville PFOA/PFOS health advisory for all City of Summerville water customers. After installing the GAC filters at the Raccoon Creek treatment plant, PFAS/PFOS concentration levels throughout the system are safely below the health advisory threshold.

Good evening to All, After several calls & messages about Halloween today, I'd like to address the issue of Trick or Treating. There has never been a conversation between Mayor & Council about citizens not being able to trick or treat from house to house or anywhere in the city. The Summerville -Trion Optimist Club did call off the Halloween Walk due to Covid 19. Citizens may trick or treat as they always have. Contrary to what your hearing nobody is going to stop children from trick or treating or take anybody to jail. We do want everybody to be safe during this worldwide pandemic........ Condolences to the family of Guinn Hankins. He was a Great Man & Great Summerville City Council member. He was a member of the city council that made the Summerville Industrial Park a reality. One of the biggest achievements by any council & mayor in Summerville.......

Good Afternoon, I hope this post finds you all safe & well. The decision to not have the City of Summerville fireworks show was NOT a city council decision. As a citizen & council member I would have liked for the city to have waited to see how things will pan out with Covid 19 in the next month or so before making a decision. With good social distancing practices & people watching from vehicles & various locations, minus the festivities that usually take place I think the fi...reworks portion of the event could go on. Summerville citizens deserve to see the BEST fireworks show in NW Ga. This event is funded through generous donations from our community & surrounding areas. Today Commissioner Winters issued a Emergency Declaration in response to the City of Summerville water crisis. This declaration will help the city maintain resources from the State of Ga , Red Cross & will also help with possible funding for the upcoming project at the water plant to help get the PFOS & PFOA numbers in compliance with the EPA regulations. City numbers were 24 & 28 parts per trillion higher than the EPA 70 requirement. 1 PART PER TRILLION IS EQUAL TO ONE DROP OF EYE DROPS IN AN OLYMPIC SIZE POOL. Don't be Anxious! This will be repaired BUT it will not be quick. Please feel free to contact me anytime with any questions you may have. I will do my best to answer your questions or get them answered for you.
