Growing through the cracks around the farm.
Just saw the first hummingbird this year. Gotta get the feeders out...
Today while milling lumber this poor fellow hopped into the work zone. I stopped operations to see why it was hopping instead of flying. I noticed something strange on his head just before I picked it up...it was a tick. Full as a tick could get just above its left eye. I brought it down to the house so Connie Coppedge Brinley could pull it off and pour some peroxide on it. Brought it back to where I first saw it and released it. Hours later as I was finishing up for the day I saw it again almost under the sawmill. This time it was much weaker than before so I picked it up and set it on the wood stacked on back of the truck, within minutes it was dead.
In all my years on this planet I have NEVER witnessed a Granddaddy Longlegs feeding.
A few weeds around the property.
Look quickly or you'll miss him.
A few swallowtails fluttering about the butterfly bush. One looks like its nearing the end of fluttering.
Saw this little guy today....I swear its there. Pic on right is from Audubon Field Guide (Eastern Region)
Sorry for the shaky video. Too many things happening around me as I watch this wasp pull a caterpillar into a hole for its young to feed on when they hatch inside of it.
