Jones County Water Department in Georgia 21.05.2021

Update of Jones County Water Department Fee Schedule - Effective April 1, 2021 To the Jones County Community, Please note that effective April 1st - for the first time in several years minimal increases and changes will be implemented to the JCW Department fee schedule.... (This is not an increase to the water base rate fee.) What is changing... LATE FEES, DISCONNECT OF SERVICE, AND RECONNECT: 1. Regarding late penalty fee: As is, water bill payments are due by the fifteenth of each month. A "$15 flat late fee" will now be assessed effective the "16th to unpaid bill each month". 2. Currently there is a two month waiting period before cut off of service due to unpaid bill. "This will be discontinued." Disconnect of service will take place on a "monthly basis" after a seven day grace period, (which begins on the sixteenth of each month - however, the late fee will still be assessed on the 16th.) 3. Currently a reconnect fee to a meter disconnected due to failure to pay is $45. This will change to $50. **For reconnect - past due balance, late fee, and reconnect fee must be paid in full.** **Reminder: As usual, checks are not accepted when account is delinquent and/or service disconnected.** NEW SERVICE APPLICATION AND CONNECTION FEE: 1. New service applications will be assessed a $25 application fee for a new account. 2. As is, a same day connection of new water service is a $10 fee. This will remain the same up through 3:00 p.m. "After 3:00 p.m. a same day connection will be a $25 fee." A RE-READ OF YOUR WATER METER REQUEST: 1. Currently a re-read of your water meter is a $10 fee. This will change to a $25 fee. (Should we find that an error has been made on our part - a fee will not be applied.) TAMPERING FEE: 1. Currently a $100 fee is assessed for a first offense. This will remain the same, however for a second offense a $250 fee will be assessed. A third offense will be assessed a $500 fee. Note: These changes are comparable to surrounding counties and we hope that this will enable residents to avoid accruing a high bill, as when billed for a two month delinquency. As usual, our automated systems are available for your easy pay: https://www.municipalonlinepayments.com or 833-303-3774. (Please have your account number when accessing these services.) It is our pleasure to serve you. If you have any questions you may contact our office. We will be happy to bring clarity to any questions that you may have. Jones County proud!
