Meet our artisans Amy Lawrence of Journey Juice! Journey Juice is much more than a passion project for this Mississippi native. For much of her life, Amy stru...ggled with severe, unpredictable digestion issues. She exercised, ate a balanced diet, but the problems persisted. It wasn’t until she found a new way to eat well, drink her veggies that she found the answer! I love leafy vegetables, but they put my stomach in turmoil. So I started juicing. Juicing was my saving grace, Amy says. Everyone thinks I’m a vegetarian because I own a juice store, but it’s really because I can’t eat raw vegetables. Cold-pressed juice provides the flavor, nutrients and soluble fiber of raw produce without the insoluble fiber that contributed to her previous stomach issues. She was first introduced to these via Arden's Garden in Atlanta, then the original Journey Juice in Visit Athens, Georgia. When that closed, Amy found herself at a crossroads. She could either keep her teaching career and drive back and forth to Atlanta for juice ... or she could buy Journey Juice, make her own and reignite her drive to make a difference in others’ lives. I feel like I have my life back. I can’t imagine doing anything else, Amy says. It’s so therapeutic to see the fruits of your labor.
