Ran into this awesome father/daughter duo yesterday: Bill Browder and Debbie Williams enjoy their Carrollton Greenbelt walks and while they’re at it - they pick a bag of trash each... each time. And they walk 3 times a week! They are not even a part of the Adopt-A-Trail program, they just love the trail. Please do not litter. Pick up after yourself, so others don’t have to. Having a picnic? Take your trash to a trash can. None available or bin is full? Take the trash with you. #stoplitter #dobeautifulthings #reconsiderlitter Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation Carrollton, GA Friends of Carrollton GreenBelt

Oh man! Today is the day! Most of the batteries we collected over the last two years are on their way to a recycling facility! It was a huge job and Adam from EcoFlo worked from 8am to 4 pm to sort, pack, and safely transport 25 5-gallon buckets of alkaline, ni-cad, and lead batteries! Those buckets were heavy!!! Adam also packed multiple boxes of fluorescent bulbs and a 55-gallon drum of HID bulbs! #springcleaning #recycle @keepgeorgiabeautifulfoundation

Keep Carroll Beautiful needs your help! Join us for: The Community Appearance Index (formerly Litter Index) in an audit of roadside litter conducted on Carroll County, GA roads. Each of the six County Commission Districts consists of a designated route with 10 sections to be assessed. The routes do not change year to year which gives us an insight into litter trends and allows us to map and plan litter cleanups. How does it work?... Volunteers have different roles in the audit some drive the vehicles, some navigate, and 3-4 volunteers per vehicle observe the type and volume of litter that they see. Because of COVID restrictions, the 2021 litter index will look a little bit different: * We need teams of four (or more) - family members and your social bubble will work great! Middle school and older children can participate, too! * A driver/navigator team follows the routes and the navigator announces the START and END of the scoring section. The scorers use sheets supplied by KCB to note the trash score for each section. * Our longest routes should take no longer than 2 hours to complete. * The event will take place the week of February 15th through 21. Message, email, or call our office (678-321-4816)! This week we are open Mon/Fri, 10 am to 2 pm. #endlitter #carrollcoutyga #roadsidelitter #dobeautifulthing #community #volunteer Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation Keep America Beautiful

Two quick updates before the weekend: There are many ways to deal with your old Christmas Tree - from dropping it off at the Carroll County, GA Convenience Center, to leaving it on the curb (if your municipality picks up yard debris) , to feeding it to the fish! (Not literally, but the tree branches provide habitat and hiding spots for fish in ponds!) Learn more at kcbga.us! Learn how to craft upcycled mittens! We are partnering with Southeastern Quilt & Textile Museum in promoting the 3xRs - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle an old sweater into a pair of mittens with Laura Bosma. This is a virtual workshop and supplies will be provided to participants! $10 person and you can sponsor a spot for a friend or a stranger. :) Please contact the SQTM to sign up!
