Our 4th Annual Black History Bowl is less than two weeks away (January 15th) from the Opening Round of play. Middle School teams will be competing throughout the community, each vying to make it to the Sweet 16 Round (January 22nd). Interested in being a part of the 2022 Black History Bowl? Sponsorship opportunities are available at the following levels: Sweet 16 - $1500 Qualifier- $1000 Share the Dream- $500 Support the Dream $100... The Black History Bowl is a fun, competitive and educational event for middle school aged teens. This year we are anticipating thirty-two teams to compete in the early round qualifier on January 15th, with the Championship Series on February 5th at the Murray Arts Center at Mount Paran Christian School. Teams from various schools, youth organizations, and churches will compete by answering a variety of black history-related questions in science, the arts, education, sports, entertainment, civil rights, politics and more in a fast-paced game show style format. Our 2022 Black History Bowl kicked off today with our Coach's Kickoff. This year we have 32 teams registered to compete. Teams representing Cobb County area, Paulding County area, and Atlanta area got their study guides so teams can begin preparing. The competition begins on January 15th at 8 locations in the community. Share with your family and friends so they can ask..."How can I get involved in this community- wide event?"... We have reached our final week of Virtual Summer Program. We will conclude with a Three-Day Leadership Program, July 14-16. The finale on Thursday will feature Nationally recognized Teen Motivational Speaker, Candace Doby. Contact us at [email protected] to find out how you can hear Candace. Candace Doby is an author, a national speaker, an entrepreneur, and a mentor. She works with universities and organizations across the U.S. to help youth build courage in themse...lves. Candace combines a decade of research on courage with her experiences leading marketing teams at Chipotle Mexican Grill and solo traveling to more than 20 countries. This unique combination equips her with the easily digestible and implementable strategies she shares with youth to help them courageously lead Candace’s encounter with a middle-school bully sparked a curiosity within her about what helps people confront the risks and challenges facing them. That lasting curiosity morphed into a deep interest in courage, leading her to become an author, a speaker, an entrepreneur and a mentor. Candace helps youth and young adults across the United States build courage in themselves through her work with universities and organizations such as University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Georgia, State University of New York Plattsburgh, National Society of Leadership and Success, YMCA, American Camp Association and many others. She combine a decade of research on courage with her experiences leading marketing teams at Chipotle Mexican Grill and solo traveling to more than 20 countries. This unique combination equips her with the implementable strategies she shares with youth to help them courageously lead, explore the world and be themselves. In her own acts of courage, she wrote her first book If Courage Could Talk, launched the greeting card and gift company Pep Talker, and quit a successful marketing career to pursue her vision of making courage fun to talk about and easy to digest for youth everywhere. She is a former speaker for Monster’s Making It Count Program where she visited high schools and colleges throughout the U.S. to teach students tools of success. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is currently based in Atlanta.
