Sound on to hear Spring Peepers peeping at South Forsyth High School! While there’s no official Frog Calling Season, Spring is the time you’ll hear quite a symphony of the Frogs of Forsyth looking for their mates. Click here to see who’s calling when: ... https://a3d1b5a5-693f-49df-a0ac-f48a70446c47.filesusr.com/ And here to help you identify who’s who. http://fcmasternaturalists.com/frog-calls/ And don’t forget. When it rains, chemicals you use around your home can end up in retention ponds just like this one. So let’s all use fewer pesticides and herbicides so our frog friends (who are very susceptible to harm from these chemicals due to their porous skin) can live their best lives. Happy Spring! And be sure to let us know who you're hearing!

We are so grateful for our volunteers, this week and every week! Whether it’s adopting a stream, picking up litter, marking storm drains, hauling in lake trash, or directing traffic at our Household Hazardous Waste events, each and every one of you plays an important role in helping to keep our county clean, green, and beautiful. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you!!

A little paint can do wonders on discarded tires! You can transform them into planters, for example, or take it a step further and shape them into animals like swans and fish. (See step two below: we’ve posted examples for you.) Our #reconsiderlitter Earth Month contest incorporates our key initiatives: ending litter, reducing waste, promoting recycling, and beautifying communities, and we hope you will participate! Here’s how to enter: 1) Gather materials from your house o...r yard that often become litter if not disposed of properlysoda cans, glass bottles, aluminum cans, straws, bottle caps, cardboard, hubcaps, tires, etc. 2) Visit kgbf.org for inspiration, or use your own imagination, to create an upcycled piece of art for your yard, balcony, or windowsill. 3) Post a photo of your creation online by FRIDAY APRIL 23, tagging @keepgeorgiabeautifulfoundation and #reconsiderlitter. Feel free to include yourself in the photo as well. 4) Enjoy the increased beauty of your surroundings! During the last week in April, we will choose one winner in three categories: adult, grades 6-12, and K-5. The prize? A $50 gift certificate to a local restaurant or business of your choice. Let’s get crafting, Georgia! #litterfreeforsyth

With spring cleaning, comes a lot of cleaning products! Instead of purchasing products filled with harsh chemicals, consider making your own! Here are two simple ways to make your own cleaner, but check out the link below for more tips! https://www.goodhousekeeping.com//a/make-at-home-cleaners/

With Earth Day coming next week, KFCB presents...The Great FoCo Green Out! On Earth Day, Thursday April 22, we challenge everyone in the county to wear green (or a KFCB t-shirt) as you tackle your Earth Day project. Then post a photo of yourself or your group to your page showing your awesome greenness and be sure to tag us @kfcborg We’ll be randomly awarding prizes to participants throughout the day, so come on Forsyth County! Let’s all dress green and go green!... Stumped for what do to for Earth Day. Here are some ideas: (remember it doesn’t have to be a big thing!) 1. Do a litter cleanup 2. Start a compost pile 3. Plant a garden or tree (using native plants to attract pollinators) 4. Remove invasive plants from your property 5. Rescue things from your trash and re-use them 6. Do a recycling audit at home to figure out what else you could be recycling 7. Replace single use products with reusable ones 8. Commit to reducing your pesticide use and learn about alternatives 9. Conserve water 10. Donate to an environmental organization We look forward to seeing green soon! #earthday2021
