Officer LaDaric Jones said when his colleagues knew Nolan would not be able to get his original bike back, they had to give him a new one, He immediately started smiling. That kind of brought chills to me because it made me feel like that was my own child...he was very grateful for it. *Video attached

Bainbridge Public Safety and the Decatur County Health Department Awarded 2021 Car Seat Mini-Grant!!! Bainbridge Public Safety, in conjunction with the Decatur County Health Department, has been awarded the 2021 Car Seat Mini-Grant by the Georgia Department of Public Health Injury Prevention Program. Through the Mini-Grant, Bainbridge Public Safety and the Decatur County Health Department work together to provide car seats and education to financially eligible families in Bai...nbridge and Decatur County. This program is funded by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety to help ensure Georgia’s children are safe while riding in motor vehicles. And it works! Since 2007, the education, car seats and booster seats provided through the Mini-Grant prevented serious injury or death and saved over 385 of Georgia’s children who were involved in crashes. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, car seats reduce fatal injuries by 71 percent among infants and by 54 percent among children ages 1 to 4 years in passenger cars. Car seats offer the best protection for children in the event of a crash, and they are most effective when installed and used correctly. Nearly three out of every four car seats are not used properly, placing children at unnecessary risk. It’s our responsibility to keep our children safe, said Julie K. Harris, Certified Technician. The Car Seat Mini-Grant is a great opportunity to help our community and help protect our children from serious injuries or death in motor vehicle crashes. In Decatur County, Bainbridge Public Safety and the Decatur County Health Department educate parents and caregivers on how to properly install and use car seats, offer car seat inspections, and provide car seats and booster seats to financially eligible families. Through the Car Seat Mini-Grant, agencies supporting more than 120 counties are working to keep Georgia’s children safe. These programs help families get their children buckled up right, every trip, every time. For more information about the Decatur County car seat program, contact the Decatur County Health Department at 229-248-3055. If you would like information regarding other counties involved in the program, please contact the Georgia Department of Public Health’s Child Occupant Safety Project via email at [email protected] or by calling 404-463-1487. Buckle Up Right, Every Trip, Every Time! *Pictured are Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians Julie K. Harris and Courtney Chavers at Bainbridge Public Safety

Did you know that children's car seats EXPIRE? As they age, parts of a car seat, including the plastic shell, can deteriorate and break down. Older car seats might not meet updated performance standards and labeling requirements. To find out when your car seat expires, you can:... 1) Check the labels on the car seat 2) Review your car seat instruction manual 3) Contact the car seat manufacturer If you have questions about how to use or install a car seat, stop by Bainbridge Public Safety on Louise Street and one of our Certified Car Seat Technicians will be happy to help!

It's almost time for the Santa Express! Escorted by Bainbridge Public Safety, Santa is coming to town on December 22, but in the coronavirus Christmas spirit h...e'll be keeping a nice safe distance. Starting at about 10:00 AM, he will drive through neighborhoods on a fire truck, waving to everyone along his route. If the street you live on is not on the route, please join him at the closest intersection or one of the public spaces listed. See more
