(Me with the late, Dr. Bailey Smith...from 4-6-05). The year before on April 5, 2004, I walked into King’s Highway Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, VA. I wa...s there with the #1 group in gospel music at that time, (Gold City). It was just another day in my mind and in my life. It was going to be an easy night, I thought. We’d do our little set and somebody was supposed to speak...EASY NIGHT. After GC finished our set, I went and kicked back in a pew on the side of the church...not knowing or realizing that God Almighty had a divine appointment written down with my name on it. The evangelist, a Holy Ghost-filled preacher of whom I’d heard of but never met, (Bailey Smith), began to speak. The more he spoke, the more God dealt with me. Sitting there amongst the guys of Gold City, God Almighty was reminding me that I had unfinished business with His Son, Jesus Christ. I knew in that moment that I...a 29 year old, church-raised, baptized at 12, professional Christian musician...was miserably lost and undone without Jesus. I had missed Him along the way. And as Bailey Smith preached and led into an invitation, I had a choice to make: ignore my pounding heart, ignore Holy Spirit’s wooing and conviction, put it off to hopefully another day(?) Somewhere deep inside me I knew this was my moment and I had better not turn The Lord away. I had to majorly set aside pride and not worry about what anybody thought, (especially the guys I traveled with). I went up to the front, bypassed the altar and climbed the steps to the pulpit. As the invitation had been given and was happening, I told Brother Bailey that I was one he was preaching to. As I stood there in Fredericksburg, VA, Bailey Smith led me to the Lord. As I prayed a prayer of repentance and surrender I felt the weight of the world lift and the peace of God settle down upon me. Jesus had gloriously saved me and my life has never been the same.
