George Carlin's wife died early in 2008 and George followed her, dying in July 2008. It is ironic George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent and so very appropriate. An observation by George Carlin: The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more...Continue reading

After spending 22 hours in the emergency room over the weekend, Tessica Brown a.k.a. Gorilla Glue girl is still looking for relief from her hairy predicament. Gorilla Glue says Tessica's saga is a unique situation and the product she used "is not indicated for use in or on hair as it is considered permanent." GG says the spray adhesive is intended for mounting things to surfaces such as paper, cardboard, wood, laminate and fabric.... The company says it's sorry to hear about her incident, and is glad she's getting treatment while wishing her the best. The TikToker who put Gorilla Glue in her hair is still living with her nightmarish mistake, the glue brand's remedies aren't working ... and now she's lawyering up. Sources familiar with the situation indicate... Tessica Brown's weekend trip to the ER was another disaster, and Gorilla Glue's tip to use rubbing alcohol to remove the product was a colossal failure. Tessica spent 22 hours in the ER and the staff was dumbfounded. We're told healthcare workers put acetone on the back of her head, but it burned her scalp and only made the glue gooey before hardening back up. Tessica, we're told, was instructed to keep trying the potential remedy back home, but rubbing alcohol still hasn't proved to be the cure. Remember ... Tessica says her hair's been rock solid for about a month after substituting Gorilla Glue Spray Adhesive for her normal hair spray. GG told us the quickest possible remedy was rubbing alcohol. Tessica's hired an attorney and is weighing her legal options against Gorilla Glue. We're told the label on the product she used says do not use on eyes, skin or clothing ... with no mention of hair, which Tessica feels is misleading. GG says all of its products are considered permanent and the packaging states it too ... but we're told Tessica felt it was okay because the product said multi-use. Gorilla Glue said it’s not going to get stuck with Tessica’s medical bills as she’s a grown a$$ woman for god’s sake said a representative from GG off the record. Tessica had already raised $9,000 though a GoFundMe account and plans to keep going. I’m going to get paid by someone she explained I’m not going anywhere I’m holding strong!

Henry Ossian Flipper, born into slavery in Thomasville, Georgia, in 1856, becomes the first African American cadet to graduate from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York on June 14, 1877. Flipper was born to enslaved parents but came of age in Atlanta during Reconstruction. He was educated at American Missionary Association schools and Atlanta University (now Clark Atlanta University). In 1873, he was appointed to West Point. As he later wrote in his 187...8 autobiography, The Colored Cadet at West Point, he was socially ostracized by white peers and professors during his four years there. After graduation, Flipper was appointed to serve as second lieutenant in the all-African American 10th Cavalry and stationed at Fort Sill in Oklahoma. The Ninth and 10th Cavalry were regiments of black enlisted men who became known as the Buffalo Soldiers. While at Fort Sill, Flipper negotiated with local Native American tribes and supervised several engineering projects, including the building of roads and telegraph lines. A drainage system he designed became known as "Flipper's Ditch" and is listed as a National Historic Landmark. In 1881, he was accused of stealing over $3,000 in commissary funds and relieved of duty. Though a court-martial found him not guilty of embezzlement, he was dishonorably discharged for "unbecoming conduct" in 1882. Flipper went on to a distinguished career as a civilian engineer and surveyor, and later served in Washington, D.C. as a consultant on Mexican relations. Flipper maintained his innocence throughout his later years and fought to clear his name. He died on May 3, 1940, in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1976, the Army upgraded his discharge to honorable. And in 1999, President Bill Clinton granted Flipper a posthumous pardon, saying, "Henry Flipper did all his country asked him to do." #blackhistorymonth

If you are in an accident: admit nothing (even if you think you are at fault), take photos if you can, video is even better, get treated for any injuries or complaints. It matters... Did you know, that when the insurance company calls, you are not obligated to make a recorded statement. Protect yourself from big insurance who only want small settlements...quickly! I hope you never need an attorney, but if you do, call one who will listen to you.

I saw this in a post for a gentleman looking for a lawyer. There are many legal matters you can self-execute, attempting to resolve the issue in good-faith after you have been in an automobile accident is not one of them. The insurance company’s job is to protect their bottom line, most if not all accident insurance attorneys will give you a no-cost evaluation of your case and potential recovery. At a minimum speak with one first before you try to Google-Lawyer this on your own. I am never too busy to listen to your case and give you my opinion.

Remember, Human Resources (HR) is not your friend! HR works for and represents the best interest of the employer, not you the employee. Nothing you say or report to HR will EVER remain confidential. Georgia is an at-will state, meaning your employer can fire you FOR ANY REASON yes ANY REASON, as longs as it is not based on a discriminatory reason. In many cases, your employer will pre-textually terminate you. You may have a case, but this is a complicated area of the law. This is not a time to go it alone! We are here to help, call us for a free consolation about your situation.

A tribute to Justice Ginsburg released over the weekend by Justice Kavanaugh. Put the visceral to the side for a few minutes. Actually read it, with care. Here is a father speaking who appreciates what she did for his daughters; and a colleague genuinely in awe of her life and work, as well as her intellectual and legal acumen: "Ashley, Margaret, Liza, and I are profoundly saddened by the loss of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and we extend our prayers and deepest condolence...s to her family and to her four decades of law clerks. No American has ever done more than Justice Ginsburg to ensure equal justice under law for women. She was a cherished colleague, and she inspired me, and all of us, with her unparalleled work ethic and devotion to the law. A meticulous and pathmarking judge, she held herself to the highest standards of precision and accuracy in her beautifully crafted opinions. And she inspired all of us to try to meet those same exacting standards. I learned from her principled voice and marveled at her wonderful wit at our weekly conferences and daily lunches. Justice Ginsburg paved the way for women to become lawyers and judges. She made it possible for women and girls like my daughters to compete on equal footing as student-athletes. When Justice Ginsburg was last in my office earlier this year, I pointed out a photo I keep of her standing with four women who served as law clerks in my chambers in my first term. As long as I am fortunate enough to serve on the Supreme Court, I will keep that photo prominently in my office as a continuing tribute to Justice Ginsburg and as a daily reminder to work hard and pursue equal justice. May God bless Ruth Bader Ginsburg." See more

I love this Country. We are so incredibly blessed to have a Constitution that built her. On this day in 1787, our founding fathers gathered at Independence Hall in Philadelphia to sign the U.S. Constitution. 233 years later, we pause to appreciate the God-given rights enshrined in our constitution and reflect on the blessing it is to be an American. Happy Constitution Day, America!

Tonight, 19 years ago, 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,319 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 61 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 10:30am on Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment, life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

This morning, MCCD and GSP responded to a multi vehicle crash on I-85 in Troup County. During the inspection, Troopers noticed the driver had recorded himself off duty on 9/1 from midnight until 7:15 AM, but Trooper found proof that the driver had been on duty, driving at 1:49am. The driver was placed out of service for false logs. A commercial accident is a complicated investigation and requires a team specially trained to respond to and process. If you, a friend, or a family member is involved in a commercial vehicle accident, call my office and let my team go to work for you. We will document and preserve the information most necessary to prove fault and fight for you for the settlement you deserve, not the one the insurance company thinks is fair. - Kirkbride Law!
