Dear God, the author of all good, I come to You for the grace another day will require for its duties and events. I step out into a wicked world; I carry about ...with me an evil heart. I know that without You I can do nothing, that everything with which I shall be concerned, however harmless in itself, may prove an occasion of sin or folly, unless I am kept by Your power. I pray to You for all the graces I need to know You, to love You and serve You faithfully unto death, and to save my soul. Give me a tender and fervent devotion to Your sacred passion by which I was redeemed, venerating You each day in prayer. And, teach me how to unite sorrows and sufferings of my life with Your own. I thank You for salvation, for your mercy, full and free. Take my all in consecration. Glorify Yourself in me. Amen

A prayer for Holy Thursday: My Most Precious Lord Jesus, this night You gathered with Your Apostles to share with them Your last meal. But this was no ordinary meal. This was the gift of Your most Sacred Body and Blood, soon to be broken and poured out on the Cross for the salvation of the world. Allow me, dear Lord, to spend this night in prayer and meditation with You. After the meal, You invited Your Apostles to join You for one hour, to stay awake and keep vigil as You prepared for Your arrest. The Apostles fell asleep, leaving You in Your bitter agony alone. I make my vigil with You this night, dear Lord. I love You, help me to love You with all my heart. Jesus, I trust in You. Amen.
