It has come to our attention that one of our frequent volunteers may have been exposed to COVID19. Out of an abundance of caution, the hall is closed today (Monday) so that we may properly sanitize the entire facility. We ask you to keep those affected in your prayers. Thank you.

Volunteers needed: the City REQUIRES that we keep the grass cut and right now it’s the same 1-2 people doing it all the time. If you have the means to help - aka - you have a riding lawnmower and a trailer to transport it back and forth - we could REALLY use some assistance keeping the grass cut on a regular basis. ... If you are able to volunteer some time, please contact Randy Quick @ 510.688.0180 The goal is to gain multiple volunteers so that we can split this task up over a group that maintains the grass on a regular basis. OR If anyone has a landscaping company and would like to donate the grass cutting - that would work as well. Thank you in advance.

Here is a great blog by Local Savannah Doctor, Dr. Mark Murphy, featured today in the Savannah Morning News. If an unmasked person infected with COVID-19 enters a room in close proximity to an unmasked uninfected individual and spends 15 minutes with him, the odds of the uninfected person contracting the virus are approximately 90%. If both are wearing masks, those odds drop to 1.5%. And there are numerous studies that show that if 80% of people wear a mask in public, SARS CoV-2 transmission could be halted.

I signed an extension of our local emergency order today. It runs until midnight on May 1. While the provisions are on hold per the Governor's declaration, I did not want to risk the statewide declaration expiring without being prepared to protect Savannah.

Due the order signed today by Savannah’s Mayor - the Social Club and Hall will be closed for events/meetings/DARTS until further notice. We are taking this seriously, following this closely and will let you know of any changes. Please follow the advice of the medical experts and STAY HOME. https://www.facebook.com/198924000145294/posts/2789379361099732/

PRESS RELEASE: Irish societies and families urge no participation in St. Patrick’s Day festivities Savannah’s Irish societies and families are requesting no par...ticipation in an unpermitted, impromptu procession scheduled on Tuesday, March 17. There are no official St. Patrick’s Day festivities scheduled, and families and societies have been asked to follow the guidelines set by the CDC, the Diocese of Savannah, the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade Committee and the City of Savannah. While we know and understand everyone is disappointed in the cancelation of the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, the leaders of Savannah’s Irish communities are urging Savannahians to follow recommendations from national and local health officials, said Lawrence Bubba Edgerly, General Chairman of the Savannah St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee. Savannah’s Irish community is resilient, and we look forward to celebrating the Feast of St. Patrick next year. The Catholic Diocese will not be conducting mass on Tuesday, and none of the established Irish societies are planning any events besides the traditional laying of a wreath at the base of the monument to William Jasper on Madison Square. Based on the announcement that public safety will not be an issue, the Savannah Police Department is not planning any additional attention to this event.
