This month we learned of a true loss to our extended KSU Architecture family. Heba Abdalla joined our Masters program at the KSU Architecture department during the short period that the program was active. Heba was unable to complete her educational journey with us and we were recently informed that she passed away on December 4th, 2021, after a 5 year battle with cancer. Faculty who interacted with her wanted to share their memories and let others, who might have interacted... with her during her time with us, know of her passing. Faculty have shared some comments with us recently: "She had a great personality, a deep love for learning and a great smile she always carried." "She was a very bright and wonderful student." "She was also a dedicated mother and had such a positive demeanor. May she rest in peace." In her memory, friends have created a donation page for orphan support via this link. https://www.launchgood.com//supporting_orphans_in_memory_o "Heba Abdalla was a wonder. Her name means gift and indeed she was, to anyone and everyone touched by her."

Thesis Student, Olivia Harrell, recently delivered an incredibly well-received presentation during the Hunter Museum of American Art's Undergraduate Research Symposium: Piecing Together Identities. Olivia is exploring the notion of racial identity to understand Savannah’s historic African and Haitian culture (revealing the importance of the subterranean tunnel system). Faculty thesis advisor, Prof. Peter Pittman, is overseeing this student inquiry.... Entry to the Undergraduate Research Symposium was coordinated by Prof. Liz Martin. Selection into this symposium is highly competitive and we are proud to offer our congratulations to everyone involved!
