Hello! To anyone who has found our ordering system difficult or worse, we hate that and offer our sincere apologies. We didn’t know what kind of demand we should expect when we opened earlier this month, and while we’re grateful for it, we’d like to come closer to meeting it than we’re currently able to. Taking the first several orders that come in at the top of the hour is our temporary solution to this issue, but we believe we can make pizza for just about everyone who want...s it if we can hire some folks ASAP! So if you know anyone looking for work who’s ready to hustle in a busy pizza kitchen AND/OR front of house position (or some exciting combo of both), make good tips and a fair hourly wage, and eat deelish pizza, please send them our way. Dear Bread Day subscribers and all La Calavera Bakery customers, We have been overwhelmed by the huge number of people who have supported this bread subscription for the past several months. It has sustained our family so far this year, but we’ve known it would have an expiration date. The reason we changed our business model was so that we could still do what we do best, but on a smaller scale without the need for employees. Well, turns out we still needed a couple people o...n payroll to run the subscription. We still depend on ONE man to make hundreds of loaves a week. And we still have a big ol’ mortgage to pay on a property which we’re not using as we intended to. In other words, the bread subscription is no longer a sustainable way for us to make a living. We have tried to put this off until the end of the month, but we find ourselves in the very difficult position of having to end the subscription early. We are very sorry, but we will have to refund all of our customers for the last three weeks of the month. We will no longer be selling at farmers markets. We offer this long explanation because we hope that it helps folks to understand why we’re doing what we’re doing. Our financial situation and our health need our urgent attention. As a family with two little kids, it’s crucial that we use our time to immediately pursue a better living. We need to let go of this thing which no longer offers us any security, and has tapped our emotional, and in Eric’s case physical, well-being for a long time. We only wish we had had the foresight not to open the subscription this month; we really hate to offer something only to ultimately not deliver. It’s a terrible feeling. Again, we apologize. We will begin processing refunds immediately; customers should see them over the next several days. We’re so grateful for your understanding and your support. It has meant so much, and we will never forget it. Thank you!
