La Dee Da Children's Art Studio in Sandy Springs has an open call for entry. Deadline for submission has been extended to Monday, Nov 16th. We're working on a really fun community based children's art competition and we'd would absolutely LOVE to have your kiddos submit some original art work. We will be picking 12 winning designs that will be printed in a calendar available for purchase this December, just in time for holiday gifts. The proceeds from the calendar will go towards funding a camp scholarship at La Dee Da this summer. This year has been challenging for so many and we'd love to do our part as a small business to help spread love through something engaging. The goal is to"empower kids through the Arts while spreading joy and creativity". Each time we make a connection, we will take the proceeds to fund a camp scholarship or even a birthday party to a deserving child. This is the first of many connections we hope to make within our community and show kids that they’re Never to little to be somebody’s rainbow! I am so very proud of our young artists! Look at these beautiful hand painted notecards going home today after our beginner watercolor class!!! Aren’t they gorgeous. These are created by artist ages 8 - 10. We’re back next week Thursdays at 4 pm for another 5 week session, this time doing landscapes in watercolor! This is my personal favorite medium. I love the fluidity and the wonderful "accidents" that happen with the flow of colors. However, working with watercolors is also one of the toughest mediums to master because it can be unforgiving and challenging to control making it somewhat intimidating. I all things fall! These fun and whimsical hand painted napkin rings on real wood discs brought a smile to my face today. Aren’t they just adorable!!! Even though this project was initially intended for slightly older campers, the littles were so excited about painting their Woodland Creatures and they did so great with them. They’re dated on the back for a beautiful keepsake and will add some whimsy to their Thanksgiving table. Lots more fun arts and crafts coming your way in the next few weeks. Beautiful day hanging out with these cuties during our Woodland Creatures Art camp today! We worked on a mixed media collage piece inspired by artist Clare Youngs. Our young artists used a collating technique overlapping with stencils and stamping to create this whimsical Fox! We used metal brads to secure the fox’s body parts, which also makes him moveable! So fun!!!! #whatdidthefoxsay

In the 6 years that she’s worked at the studio this amazing, creative soul has done whatever it has taken to help us grow as a business to where we are today. I think I can count on one hand how many times she’s called in sick or been late and I don’t think it would even hold up to 5 fingers! Do you know how valuable that is in an employee!!! She’s gracefully and cheerfully taken all of my crazy ideas and implemented them into reality, been my kids’ personal Halloween makeup ...artist, helped throw spectacular parties, come up with insane camp projects and been my technology guru! This amazing rainbow mural is the last of her creative contributions to us and it will showcased in the holiday village this winter at City Sandy Springs! It’s going to take some time to see life without her on a daily basis. We hate to see you go @jessicabrown08 but hope there’s ahead with your new adventures. Local Sandy Springs community! It's been a rough couple of days with Zeta. But the sun is shining tomorrow. Bundle up and come join us on the green at City Sandy Springs Farmer's Market, Saturday, October 31st 9am - 1 pm. All participants will be offering trick or treating for the kids. La Dee Da will have lots of fun arts and craft kits for purchase. Booth Number 25, right on the green next to the SS Information Booth. Help support local businesses and take home something f...un and locally sourced. All of these exciting seasonal kits shown below are available for purchase. October 31, 2020 9:00am On October 31, 2020, the Sandy Springs Farmers Market will be open from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm. Halloween-themed vignettes will decorate the City Green, providing a photo backdrop for families and their young costumed characters to visit at their leisure. Families wishing to trick-or-treat can do so during the following set times, scheduled by age groups to assist with minimizing crowd sizes. 9:30 10:30 am children up to two years old 10:30 am 11:30 am children three to five years old 11:30 am 12:30 pm children five to seven years old Parents with children in multiple age groups are asked to select one time within their eligible grouping for the entire family. Social distancing will be enforced, and all participants are reminded of the mask ordinance in place in Sandy Springs. No purchase is necessary for children to receive trick-or-treats.

Another wild crazy trip around the sun! Yes, I’m 43 today. A little more gray hair, some new wrinkles, but happy. Can’t say I had the slightest inclination for this whammy of a year, but believe it or not, the goals, both personal and professional have stayed the same. Just some tweaks and detours along the way, and learning to allow room for lots and lots of grace! I feel accomplished, grounded and secure. And not saying this because things have necessarily been easy. Belie...ve me there have been a TON of tears and freak out moments. But more so because I have an AMAZING tribe around me. And for that I am humbled and forever grateful. From my husband to my kiddos, to our parents, my family, my crazy awesome friends, a sweet community and all those who aren’t afraid to share their vulnerability while continue to persevere! After you strip everything away, what’s left is just love and faith and a deep appreciation for where I stand today. And those are the times I think to my self, yes it will be ok. I will be ok. So here’s to my birthday! It’s raining here in Atlanta, there’s another hurricane coming through, but it won’t be 2020!!! The sun WILL S H I N E again soon!
