Great news! NGHS and UnitedHealthcare have reached an agreement that brings United customers back in-network with NGHS . . . and it's retroactive! Go to www.nghs.com/united for more details.

For all of our patients with United Healthcare: This is the statement released from NGHS today. Please note that this only effects hospital services. We are aware that this change will greatly effect our OB and surgical patients and are working to file continuity of care for those effected. Please feel free to call us with any questions. WE URGE YOU TO CALL UHC AND VOICE YOUR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, AS THIS MAY BE THE ONLY WAY TO SWAY THEIR DECISION. As of August 22, 20...12, Northeast Georgia Health System is out-of-network with United Healthcare. This is not what we wanted, and we worked very hard to avoid this outcome. Yet, after more than eight months of negotiations and multiple meetings up to the contract deadline, we were not able to finalize a new agreement with United. At issue were multiple contract items critical to our ability to improve coordination of care in the future, secure top quality care for our patients, and serve united patients in our community in the same manner that we have for many years. This change affects all patients who have United commercial insurance products (not a Medicare product). These patients will need to review their specific benefit plan when accessing the following NGHS facilities and physicians: Northeast Georgia Medical Center Northeast Georgia Physicians Group Urgent Care (all locations including Braselton, Buford and Gainesville) Imaging Center (all locations including Braselton and Gainesville) The Rehabilitation Institute (all locations including Braselton, Buford, Cleveland, Dahlonega, Dawsonville, Gainesville and Oakwood) The Toccoa Cancer Center Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center It is important to note that emergency services are always covered at network benefit levels, even though NGHS is no longer a United network provider. Lakeside OBGYN’s children policy has been modified to better accommodate our patients effective 8/10/12. While we strongly recommend that you try to schedule your appointments when you have child care, we understand there are certain circumstances that don’t always allow our patients to do so. Our new policy applies to children whom can no longer be in an infant carrier. In the instance that you need to bring a child to your appointment please bring an accompanying adult that... can supervise your child at all times so that we may address your care without distraction. We will ask that you reschedule your appointment if you come in without an accompanying adult to watch your child. Children will still not be allowed to wait in the waiting room but will be asked to wait in the seating provided in the hall area until it is time for your appointment. Please understand that this is to protect our expectant mothers from germs and diseases that children often carry. If you decide to bring your child into the patient care areas/exam rooms they must have adult supervision at all times. Please do not allow your children to open drawers/cabinets or trash containers in the exam rooms as equipment is expensive and biohazard materials can be dangerous.
