Ok. Let's share the bee sting that hurt the most, was in an unusual place, strange happening, etc. I'm going to give you guys a Pro Tip: When tasting the bounty of comb and honey on the end of your hive tool, please be sure that there are no bees on the other side of the tool. They could leave a stringer in the roof of your mouth. Just sayin...

When your catch bucket won't reach... even if you stand in the back of the JSV. You reach for the shorter tool with the longer reach (circled at bottom of the pic). 1 well-placed shot with the 12 gauge took the limb down. They then settled on a lower limb and I was able to capture them. Adventures in beekeeping!! :)

Interesting data. Some of it counter-intuitive...

We have some around our property and apiary. They are more of a nuisance than anything (unless you ask my wife who is afraid of spiders).

The Asian Giant Hornet eradication crew, which included WSDA, USDA and, oddly enough, the Discovery Channel, went to work in the wee hours of the morning to neu...tralize a nest in the Blaine area. The nest, which was located in a tree trunk, was sealed, vacuumed and then injected with carbon dioxide to asphyxiate whatever remained in the cavity. The nest will later be removed and dissected for further study by entomologists. Special thanks to the property owners, Jamie and his family, for being gracious hosts to the crew (and many curious neighbors). Via Whatcom County Government See more
