The Georgia 4-H Environmental Education Program is pleased to provide another series of From the Mountains to the Sea virtual programs. Celebrate Earth Day next week from April 19-23 with a new lesson each day! Visit each 4-H center's Facebook page at 3 pm to participate! Our next Georgia 4-H Zoom into Science is "All About Animal Prothesis" on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 4:00 pm. Join Mr. Kevin Carroll, the co-inventor of the world’s first prosthetic dolphin tale, featured in the 2011 movie Dolphin Tale. After hearing about a dolphin Winter whose tail was lost in a crab trap, Mr. Carroll worked with a colleague to create a prosthetic tail, allowing Winter to swim again. Our next Georgia 4-H Zoom into Science is "All About Insects and the Bacteria Inside Them" on March 11, 2021 at 4:00pm. Queen Mary University of London PhD student Raphaella Jackson will share her research using computing coding skills to learn about the bacteria that live inside insects’ bodies. Read Across America Day is celebrated annually to share the joys of reading with the goal of bringing awareness to the importance of literacy. The annual Beekeeping Essay Contest is an exciting opportunity for students to test their writing abilities and learn something new about honey bees and their importance in the environment.
