Kindergartener’s decorating their own pumpkins
Pumpkin Patch Fun! Mrs. Courson’s Kindergarten class took a virtual field trip to the Pumpkin Patch. The students learned the life cycle of a pumpkin, how farmers plant and produce millions of pumpkins each year, and learned pumpkins can be different sizes and colors. Lastly and the most fun of all, students painted and decorated their very own pumpkin!!!
Shout out to Mr Monte for making today a great day for his students on Bus 4!
Mrs Browning’s first grade class read the book Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain. In this book there was no rain on Kapiti Plain until the main character, Ki-Pat, made it rain. The students made their very own rain sticks out of paper towel cardboard holders, paper, rice, and glue (in hopes of making it rain)! Then they used used sensory details to describe what rain looks like, sounds like, and feels like. Lastly students wrote their responses on sticky notes and added them to the class anchor chart.
Teacher winners from RRW!!!
Fun with Math! Mrs. Schade’s first grade class used food to help them learn about place value! The students represented 100 blocks with cheese crackers, 10 blocks with pretzel sticks, and one blocks with M&Ms. The students were asked to represent numbers in standard form and expanded form. They went all the way up to 500! The students "showed" the numbers with the food, drew it out on paper, and then wrote the number in expanded form. For doing such a great job, they were given the leftover snacks to eat! Math is more fun with food!

Mrs Chadwick’s second grade class created a solar oven and conducted an experiment in which the sun’s heat melted the chocolate and made S’mores! Then the students summarized the process with a writing activity. Fun! Fun!
