Teresa Stanley is the last, but certainly not least member of our administrative team. Teresa is an experienced legal assistant in transactional matters. If Lawson, Reid & Dean handles your real estate, estate, or corporate matters, you will likely get the pleasure of talking to Teresa. Teresa "retired" after many years working for another law firm, but thankfully decided that she liked to be too busy to be retired and came to work with us. We are so glad that she did because her kind heart adds much to our team.

Lana Mays is a member of the Lawson, Reid & Dean’s litigation team. Lana is originally from Americus but now lives in Cordele. Our litigation clients appreciate Lana’s patience as she works with them on their cases. Doug loves to play pranks on his co-workers. One day we are going to get him back, by having Lana pretend to quit. This would be the best prank because he greatly values the quality assistance Lana provides him.

Next up is Kevin. Kevin grew up in Michigan, eventually made his way to Metro Atlanta, where he served as a paralegal for many years, before deciding that he was sick of the pace of big city life and wanted to live in a small town. He and his husband now live in Dooly County. Kevin serves as the paralegal for the firm’s government team and the firm’s receptionist. He is always willing to pitch in and keeps us laughing. We are so glad that Kevin decided to move to a small town and join our team at Lawson, Reid & Dean.

This Wednesday is Administrative Professionals Day. We have a wonderful administrative team at Lawson, Reid & Dean, and this week we want to tell you why we think each of them is great. First up is Christina. Christina is our bookkeeper and office administrator. Christina does a great job of keeping the office running smoothly. She is originally from Florida, but thankfully she, her husband, and sons now live on a small farm in Sumter County, where they raise chickens, ducks, cats, dogs, a rabbit, and even an alligator that likes to wander over to their pond! Christina, thanks for all you do for Lawson, Reid & Dean.

Officer Austin Cason's peers at the Americus Police Department selected him as the April First Responder of the Month. Chief Mark Scott stated that despite a heavy caseload, Officer Cason went above and beyond in fulfilling his duties. We were happy to meet Austin's grandmother who joined us to celebrate this well-deserved recognition.

We were proud to present the March 2021 First Responder of the Month Award to Malcolm Cooper with Middle Flint Regional E911. He was nominated by his peers for his outstanding attitude and always going above and beyond what is required of him. Thank you for all you do for the community!

Congratulations to Doug Dean for being honored as Volunteer of the Year by the Cordele-Crisp County Chamber of Commerce. This award reflects Doug’s leadership, commitment, and passion for improving our community.

Lawson, Reid & Dean attorney Hayden Hooks recently conducted three Title IX training sessions for school administrators on behalf of Chattahoochee-Flint RESA. The new Title IX regulations adopted in 2020 significantly changed the way K-12 schools and universities should respond to allegations of sexual harassment. Our office will continue to monitor the additional changes that are expected later this year.

This morning our conference room held a successful mediation for Doug Dean and his client. This afternoon it hosted a ping pong tournament during our weekly team meeting. Despite valiant efforts by Kevin Love Holmes, Rick Lawson is the firm champion!

We were proud to present the February 2021 First Responder of the Month Award to Mark Chapman with Dooly County EMS, where he has worked for the past 5 years. We appreciate everything you do for the community, Mark!

Lawson, Reid & Dean, LLC is pleased to announce that Hayden Hooks has joined its government team. Her practice will focus primarily on representing counties, cities, and school boards. Hayden has extensive experience serving as general counsel for counties, cities, boards of education and other governmental entities. She also serves these entities and private businesses as defense counsel in employment matters, contract disputes, and civil rights claims. Hayden has conduc...ted training on Title IX, student discipline, employee grievances and special education matters for the Georgia School Board Association, Chattahoochee-Flint RESA and local boards of education. Before joining Lawson, Reid & Dean, Hayden was a partner with the Albany law firm of Perry & Walters, LLP. Hayden previously practiced education law at Thompson, Sweeny, Kinsinger & Pereira, the law firm for the Gwinnett County Board of Education. She and her husband, Bardin Hooks, are members of Calvary Episcopal Church in Americus. They are the parents of one son, George, and their beloved cocker spaniel, Lettie

Our elf has been up to mischief again this year. He was missing the snow at the North Pole, so he covered Doug Dean’s office with cotton balls to make it look like a Winter Wonderland.
