#GIVINGTUESDAY THE STORY OF DORIS AYIEMBA During the August rainfall it was reported that more than 1,200 houses are said to have been damaged or destroyed and several hundred people rendered homeless. One of the houses that was captured in this data is the house of 67 year old mama Doris Ayiemba, guardian to Dan Ochieng. Staying at the hill of Kajulu in the outskirt of Kisumu, the heavy flood that was flowing from the hill brought the house down within 20 minutes. Thank God ...the mother and Dan were able to get out of the house safely without any physical injury apart from the psychological torture of what next? With the help of the neighbors they were able to put up a temporary make shift house for shelter This was a very difficult environment for Dan Ochieng, bearing in mind that he’s in grade eight and they have already reported back to school for the final exams. Mama Ayiemba got a sigh of relief when she came to realize that Life For Children Ministry had secured some well wishers to construct a few houses within the communities that were affected with rains and flood, however her joy was short lived when Life for Children was overwhelmed with few resources against many people that were to be assisted with house construction in the first round. On our second visit to break the news of her answered prayers, she could not hide her joy of this new development. This actually came at an opportune time when she was battling with fear that the situation could worsen with more prediction of heavy rainfall in the month of November and December and also increased the risk of disease outbreaks and could pose obstacles to efforts to contain the corona pandemic, There was very good teamwork spirit from the community who came to assist this mama and the house was ready in the same day I just don’t know how me and my grandchildren can thank you, I also thank God for Michael for prioritizing house construction as the major need during this time, may the almighty God bless the hand that gave and everybody that facilitated in one way or another: cried mama Doris. WORLD ORPHANS DAY, Monday, November 9th. Due to the recent resurgence of COVID-19 the basics of food, masks and water stations are in heavy demand. On this day of recognition for the world's orphans, Life For Children Ministry continues to extend relief to the least of these.

After the death of her husband, Linet Adoyo was left in a tiny house in which she was staying with her kids, the situation continued to be dire as the house was leaking. In her vulnerable condition and with the health of her children at risk, Linet was referred by a village elder to Life for Children Welfare (LCW) for support.
