Goodness the day just about got away from me. Here’s a cool read I thought my Lindale Friends would be interested in. On This Day in History ... Today marks 124 years that the Massachusetts Cotton Mill opened its doors for operation in Lindale Georgia. The mill number 1 was built rather quickly beginning ground breaking on May 23, 1895, and opening for manufacturing on November 16, 1896. In the early days the mill workers, worked from dusk to dawn since electricity wasn’t in at the time. Hence why the factory had huge windows. The workers ranged from ages 7-and up, and consisted of a 66 hours on the job. The mill originally began manufacturing narrow sheetings, osanaburgs, and drills. At this time the mill had 1,000 looms. Water and coal was the source of energy used to power the three steam engines, by firing three Cahall boilers. The mill operated on self-generated steam until 1921. Over the course of 107 years of operation in the Lindale Community, the mill built an entire village ranging from schools, churches, company store, auditorium, swimming pool, and a cemetery. The company seen to its people and cared deeply for the investments it made throughout the duration that the mill ran. Thanks for checking this out, Mayor!!

Hangs the Star Between the Stacks and the Christmas in Lindale festivities. Restoration Lindale, Inc. Has begun selling bulbs for the Star Between the Stacks this Christmas Season. Anyone interested in a bulb may begin now making a $20 donation per bulb to be placed on the star In Honor Of or In Memory Of In Celebration Of a loved one. North or South side of the star. We all enjoy seeing the star between the smokestacks at the Lindale Mill each year so it’s important that we make a donation to continue this wonderful tradition that Pepperell Manufacturing Company started in 1931. The Star Between the Stacks Please Read!! In just 7 weeks, that’s right 7 weeks Restoration Lindale, Inc. Star Crew will be hanging the Christmas Star at the Lindale Mill. ... So far we have only sold 17 bulbs ( in 3 weeks) and there are a total of 180 we need in order to put the Star up. As of today October 10th, we have 163 bulbs left to sale. It’s very important that we sell these bulbs in order to have Christmas in Lindale 2020. This will mark year 89 of this long standing tradition of The Lindale Star at the mill. Children and adults of all ages from this little mill town of Lindale and all around the country know of this beautiful star. On behalf of Restoration Lindale, Inc. we GREATLY appreciate those who support this tradition. Bulbs are $20 each and there is a Google Form below for filling out when ordering your bulb.
