This month the SPOTLIGHT shines on our amazing volunteer ALEXIS GOINS. A halo of goodness follows Alexis wherever she goes and our families love her vibrant personality. Alexis is a wife and mother of two beautiful daughters and works a full-time job but she is always willing to answer the call of serving our senior community. Currently Alexis is collecting items to distribute love bags to our sensational seniors if you would like additional information please feel free to co...ntact our office. Thank you Alexis for always going over and above for our wonderful families and their caretakers you are truly a SUPERHERO. Where do you live? Snellville GA Your Spouse’s Name? Raymond Goins How long have you been married? 16 years Children/Grandchildren? 2 Daughters. Aset- 15, Nepthys- 12 Career/Retired From? I am currently an administrative assistant. I retired from being a Personal Chef 2 years ago. Hobbies or Interest? Reading, Crocheting, Cooking and studying different cultures and forms of divination from around the world. When did you start volunteering for Longleaf? June 2019 What are you most proud of in your life? I am most proud of the fact that I strive to extract the lessons of each occurrence in my life, whether positive or negative. It is all apart of a much larger picture. Why did you decide to become a volunteer? I became a volunteer because I wanted more fulfillment and purpose in my Life. My kitchen career fed my ego for many years. Volunteering for Hospice feeds my soul. What has been one of your highlight moments in volunteering with Longleaf Hospice? I delivered flowers last Christmas for Longleaf. On my very last delivery I knocked on the door and waited. I don't think the caretaker expected me. She opened the door and I kindly introduced myself to her and her Husband. I handed her the flowers. Her eyes filled with tears as she thanked me several times and told me that the flower delivery really brightened her and her Husband's day. It solidified for me that very moment that even the smallest act of kindness goes such a long way.

Our volunteers continue to give of their amazing talents and time for our patients and staff. Through their artistic talents we've had volunteers create beautiful pieces of art to share with our patients as well as "mindful jars" that are very soothing to have on hand when anxious or just needing a moment of meditation. Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers at Longleaf! Want to learn more about our volunteer team? Call -Terry or Loy at 770-939-9179 or check-out our website for more information- longleafhospice.com.
