Loveline Golden Retrievers 30.04.2021

Some exciting new things are happening at Loveline kennels! With the arrival of spring, our girls are going in season, which means love is in the air! LOL. And we have a new "suitor" who we hope will find a suitable mate among our Loveline girls! Rowdy is a good looking almost 4 year old boy from Rey and Chece's first litter of puppies, the Dog Days of Summer litter! After having Rowdy out for our Golden 5th Saturday on several occasions and then having him board in our k...ennels, we realized that Rowdy was a perfect candidate to become one of our future stud dogs. He has great conformation and has the temperament so typical of a Golden, sweet, playful, and happy to meet everyone, dog and human! So, Rowdy has been groomed for the role and has now passed all of his health clearances. This week Rowdy came out to be introduced to Tzeda, who is next in line for breeding this spring. The 2 dogs seems to hit if off well, Rowdy a little more enthusiastic about the meeting than Tzeda, who was a little cautious about this playful pup. But she did eventually warm up to him and I think the next time they meet, it will be a much more romantic event! Looking forward to seeing what these 2 lovebirds will produce. See more

Chece's little Leprechaun puppies are now over 1 week old and they have almost doubled in size. With little competition in the kitchen the pups have no trouble gaining weight and growing by leaps and bounds....and Chece is a good milk machine. Next week we will begin bottle feeding the pups just to get them accustomed to being handled by humans....and enjoy it as well! If you have never bottle fed a puppy, please stop in around noon one day and help us bottle feed Fiona, Murphy, Clancy, Quigley and Guinness!

Hannah and I celebrated National Puppy Day yesterday by participating in the University of West Georgia's Paws to Relax event at the Carrollton Campus! Hannah was joined by her daughter, Rosie, from the Wine Collection litter and ATD Therapy Dog Stella! The dogs "endured" 2 hours of grueling "work" as they sat for petting, showed off their tricks, and lounged in the laps of the delighted college students! It was a chilly but nice day for the event and there were tons of students out enjoying the weather or stopping for some puppy therapy between classes! This was the 1st Therapy Dog event for our Therapy Dogs since COVID shut us down last March! It was such a pleasure to be able to let the dogs work their magic once again! Hannah was in heaven!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! About 9 weeks ago, I thought that we would be celebrating the arrival of Chece and Rey's 5th litter of puppies on this 2021 St. Patrick's Day. I had already picked out the cute Irish names for each of the puppies! But God and Chece had other plans! We welcomed 5 new Loveline puppies into the world on Saturday, March 13! I was a bit disappointed that I would not get to use my Irish names until I did a little research on the history of St. Patrick'...s Day! Researching holidays always reveals some interesting and sometimes surprising facts, legends and myths! Saint Patrick, who lived during the fifth century, is the patron saint of Ireland and its national apostle. Born in Roman Britain, he was kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a slave at the age of 16. He later escaped, but returned to Ireland and was credited with bringing Christianity to its people! In the centuries following Patrick’s death (believed to have been on March 17, 461), the mythology surrounding his life became ingrained in the Irish culture: Perhaps the most well-known legend of St. Patrick is that he explained the Holy Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) using the three leaves of a native Irish clover, the shamrock. But the most exciting bit of folklore about St. Patrick's Day that I learned is that Leprechauns, those tiny men and women who could use their magical powers for much trickery and most often used it to protect their much-fabled treasure, have their own holiday on March 13! So I felt that the arrival of my tiny little red haired puppies on March 13 still could have their "Leprechaun" names and be a part of the St. Patrick's Day celebration! We will take this day as an opportunity to sing the "Doxology" and praise God for these 5 healthy new puppies, 1 girl, Fiona, and her 4 little brothers, Quigley, Clancy, Murphy and Guinness! Praise God from whom all blessings flow Praise Him, all creatures here below Praise Him above the Heavenly host Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost Amen, Amen, Amen, and Amen!

Yesterday marked the 6 week birthday of our Little Mermaid puppies, which meant that it was time to take their first car ride to visit our veterinarian. They were excited to follow mama Tzeda out to the car, but once they were in the crates with the doors shut, they changed their tune a bit....there was just a little howling going on. The Merpups can do some singing! If I howl, they all start howling! Upon arrival at the clinic, the pups enjoyed meeting the staff and gett...ing all the attention that a litter of Golden puppies usually draw! The pups did great getting checked by the vet and their first vaccinations. Price Eric weighed in at 10.6 lbs and Ariel at 8.0 lbs, the largest to the smallest....at this time. That changes on a weekly basis. As usual, we made a stop in the fields on our way home to let the pups go potty and enjoy some romping in the grass before going back to the kennels. It was definitely a beautiful day for the pups to meet the great outdoors and freedom to run in the field. As the photos show, we stayed for quite a while....until the last pup fell asleep in my lap. It has to be one of my favorite activities....sitting in the middle of a field surrounded by Golden puppies. I never tire of the experience! Sunshine and Golden puppies are 2 of my most treasured gifts from God! See more

Finally we had nice enough weather that our Little Mermaid puppies were able to go outside and spend a few hours in our Puppy Yard. And on top of that fun experience, they had some visitors as well! So that just took any stress away that they might have been feeling! The pups loved the space and the obstacles in the yard. And they got to go back out today before the rain set in! Now they are spoiled and will not be happy in their indoor room at all. When they are outside, they get to see and hear all of the activities going on around the kennels. And they can interact with the big dogs. And of course Jubilee and Hosanna love to be able to go in the yard with the pups and play. They are the best puppy sitters! Loving these playful pups! They are a bundle of energy and fun!

Happy Holiday season! It is that time of year again....time for our annual Loveline Golden Retriever photo contest. The winning photos of our contest will go into creating our 2021 Loveline Golden Retriever calendar. The goal of our contest is first of all, to see current photos of our awesome Loveline dogs! Secondly, we will create our 2021 calendars from the photos from our families and, thirdly, the proceeds from the calendar sales go to one of our favorite dog related c...harities. The calendars will be sold for $20 and you can place an order anytime between now and January 1. Here is how it works. Any Loveline family can send up to 3 quality(no less than 3456 x 2592 pixel dimensions) digital photo entries of your dog. We have 5 wonderful judges who choose and give prizes for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd 4th and 5th place photos, for the most creative photo, and each judge chooses an additional Judge's Favorite photo that might not have received enough points for the above placements, but the Judge thinks it is the best! In addition, we let our Facebook fans choose their favorite photo. The winning photos will be used to create our 2021 Loveline Photo Calendar which are on sale now, but will not be created and printed until after the Photo Contest is completed. The winners of the photo contest will receive a 2021 Loveline Photo calendar displaying their winning photograph! We will also be choosing a photo of a puppy(ies)dog(s) from each of our past litters that will be featured as a representative of their litter on the birthday of their litter. So I hope that all of our Loveline families will take a minute and either look through some photos that you have already, or grab your camera and get some great shots of your Loveline Golden Retriever! Then email 3 of the best ones to me! Please include your dog's name, birthday, and name of parents if you remember! Deadline for photo submission is Dec. 22. I look forward to hearing from our Loveline families!!

Chece, Jubilee and I spent an amazing day of training in Blue Ridge, GA on Monday. We had beautiful weather, a gorgeous lake for water HR training and an outstanding instructor! I couldn't ask for more....but....my 2 girls, Chece and Jubilee, also showed great promise in working toward their Water HR certification! This was Jubilee's first time on a boat and she didn't bat an eye and actually search for the odor over the side of the boat and gave her trained final response! Not bad for her first try! We were shaping Chece's behavior on the boat because she has had some experience already on a boat. She gave a great paw over the side of the boat right at the source location! I was thrilled with that! We go back next week for another training day on the lake! Thank you, Sherry Scruggs, for this wonderful opportunity!

We had another "first" on Thursday of this week....October 15 was the first birthday of Ellie's Treasure of Life litter which includes our Jubilee, Loveline's Jubilant Celebration of Joy! Happy 1st Birthday to Jubilee, Alfred, Penny and T-Bone! The families have share some of the birthday celebrations with their pups! Love this litter. Rey and Ellie make a great combination! We had a birthday pool party for Jubilee who was joined by her mom, Ellie, and her friends, Liberty and Hosanna, our 2 other 1 year old pups. Jubilee has 4 loves in her life....swimming, searching for dead things, food and me! I get the most adoring looks from this pup! And she gives some great snuggles! Looking forward to working with this little "Rey" puppy. She has great potential as a Search dog! Happy Birthday to Jubilee!

Our Little Mermaid puppies are now 5 weeks old! They are enjoying the larger space in the puppy room, lots of visitors, and have begun clicker training. Tzeda is ready for them to be completely weaned because the 11 sets of sharp teeth and 44 sharp claws are tearing her to pieces! She can only tolerate the pups for a few minutes at a time....then she runs out of the room or curls up in a corner to get away from them. Poor Tzeda! The pups are weaning quickly because they are starving! And they have Sola as a good example to follow. Looking forward to getting the pups outside for the first time today!

Loveline Golden Retrievers 29.10.2020

Sola has had a fun weekend with our kennel assistant's family! She is getting lots of socialization with kids and a variety of dogs! This little singleton pup is going to be a great dog. She loves everyone and every dog, she is learning so quickly all her puppy manners, she is playful and she is fearless! Looking forward to having Sola back in January for Cold Nose College with 3 of the Mermaid pups!

Loveline Golden Retrievers 25.10.2020

Announcing the arrival of "Sola", the only puppy born to Agape and Rey this fall! This is our first Singleton so we are in for an educational experience for sure! Hopefully Tzeda will deliver some healthy puppies with whom Sola can socialize and become littermates! "Sola" is a Latin word for 'the only' or 'alone'. You may have heard the terms Sola scriptura ("by Scripture alone"), Sola fide ("by faith alone"), Sola gratia ("by grace alone"), Solus Christus or Solo Christo ...("Christ alone" or "through Christ alone"), and Soli Deo gloria ("glory to God alone"). As we approach the end of October, we look forward to celebrating Reformation Day, I decided Sola would be an appropriate name for our sweet little girl, born on October 14 at 1:37 PM! The Reformers were guided by the conviction that the church of their day had drifted away from the essential, original teachings of Christianity, especially in regard to what it was teaching about salvationhow people can be forgiven of sin through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and receive eternal life with God. The Reformation sought to re-orient Christianity on the original message of Jesus and the early church. The Five Solas are five Latin phrases (or slogans) that emerged during the Reformation to summarize the Reformers’ theological convictions about the essentials of Christianity. Our little "Sola" will be a reminder to me of the essentials of my faith....in Christ alone! See more

As with many of you, COVID 19 has kept us from doing much traveling this year. We have been long overdue some recreational activities in our family. And so we decided to take our daughter, Hannah, on an extended weekend birthday trip. Her choice, after spending a week in Panama City during the recent hurricane, was to go to the mountains! On Friday morning we loaded up our SUV with 2 Goldens, our Hannah Dog and our 1 year old Liberty, and headed north! We met Hannah Human..., her husband and my 1 year old granddaughter, EV, and Hannah's best friend, Christian, at a cabin in Blairsville, GA, near the famous Helen, GA Hannah had 2 requests.....visit Helen and daily hikes to see waterfalls! I must admit it was an interesting weekend, but very enjoyable. Liberty, a COVID 19 puppy, had not had a lot of exposure to new places and large groups of new people. He was a crazy puppy. And most notably, he was obsessed with EV's pacifier and her dirty diapers. That made for some stressful moments with all of us together in a 1 bedroom cabin with a loft....not a lot of places to separate the 2 one year olds! So we all had to work on our tolerance and patience. But isn't that what toddlers are for????....to teach us patience???!!! I was stressed most of the time because my daughter was stressed because of Liberty. The word that was heard yelled through the cabin most was....."Liiiibeeeeertyyyy, nooooooo". But our daily outings were great! We spent Saturday in Helen enjoying Octoberfest. Liberty, Hannah, and Stella, Hannah Dog's 7 year old daughter and my grandpuppy, spent a lot of the day watching the crazy people from under a table! But we did do a lot of walking around the shops so they got to meet lots of people and other dogs. Two of the days we hiked to 2 different waterfalls, which were gorgeous and which the dogs loved....they just wished that they could get off those leashes and really enjoy the water! We also hiked up Brasstown Bald, which you have to do if you are from Georgia! And the highlight of the trip for me was our visit to an Alpaca Farm! We enjoyed a great educational experience in getting to know the alpaca, walking through the herd, feeling the differences in the wools from different age alpaca, learning about the hierarchy of a breeding stock ( which I personally found extremely interesting for obvious reasons!) and understanding the difference between a llama and an alpaca, about which I was completely ignorant! I don't think I have ever seen a cuter animal than an alpaca...but NO, I am not going to get one! It was a much needed few days out of our ordinary routine and an opportunity to appreciate God's beautiful creations and enjoy His awesome gift of family! Only in that context can we screw up miserably and still be loved! I am so grateful for my wonderfully patient husband, my loving daughter, my super hero son in law and my adorable granddaughter! And for my great Goldens as well!

After many months of isolation due to COVID 19, we are FINALLY able to welcome all of our Golden friends back to the farm for our awesome Golden 5th Saturday play day. So if you are located anywhere near Douglasville, GA and want a fun day with your Golden, plan to join us on Saturday, October 31 from 11 AM until 4 PM. Drop in for a visit or plan to spend the entire day with us and your dog's Loveline family! This will finally be the grand opening of our dog pool, which has... been operational for over a year now! Swimming and dock diving will be available. The Agility Course is always open to any athletic feeling dogs and the creek is still running strong for those who want to splash along Rey's beach and play in the sand. We hope to have a hay maze set up (AKA barn hunt) for the dog's to test their sniffing skills. And as always there is plenty of space for the zoomies and/or leisurely off leash walks with your dogs. If you plan to stay all day, you would probably enjoy bringing a picnic lunch for you and your dog and you might want to bring a chair as well. We will have soap and towels available to clean up your dog before you head home after a fun day of dog play! The cost is $20 per dog. You must provide proof of current vaccinations and your dog must not be dog aggressive. Most of the dogs will be off leash at owner's discretion. You can message me here if you want to reserve your spot at the Golden 5th Saturday play day.

As I wait and pray, along with all the families who are anxiously awaiting the arrival of their new puppy, for my dogs who we recently bred to let me know if they are pregnant or not, I have been overwhelmed with the demonstration of God's grace in my life and in our business of breeding Golden Retriever dogs. Each year I send out birthday greetings to every litter that we have whelped and raised for the past 23 years.....that is 37 litters and 273 Golden Retriever puppies to... be exact. Unfortunately, I do not receive back 273 responses as I would like, but I do get some delightful updates and photos from families who do respond! And I am so grateful to those families! This year I have also received some updates that have made me very sad and sometimes broken my heart. As our "puppies" have aged, we are beginning to lose our loyal friends.....some to cancer and some just to old age. In God's great mercy, cancer has not been particularly prevalent in our lines so it is really sad to me when one of our own does succumb to cancer. It is a relentless demon that touches every part of our lives. The photos that people send to me of how their puppies have touched their lives is a blessing to me to know that even though our dogs cannot live throughout our lifetime, they are leaving their mark, and it is worth the sadness and loss to have experienced the love of a Golden Retriever! I say that as I await with great trepidation our fall litters to arrive. There has been so much sadness and loss over the past 2 years in our breeding program We actually lost 14 puppies in 2019-2020, had 2 failed breedings and 2 emergency c-sections...things we have never experienced before in our 23 years of breeding. Before 2019, we had only lost 10 puppies total in 20 years and never had any problems in our breeding process or in whelping the litters! So now as I hug my potential "mama" dogs, Agape and Tzeda, I thank God for all the 273 puppies that He has given us and I rejoice in the lives that have been touched through these puppies. And I humbly lay before His throne our petition for 2 large litters of healthy Golden Retriever puppies. I know God is sovereign and always in control of every detail of my life and I joyfully and gratefully accept whatever He chooses to give us, whether good or bad, happy or sad. It is just an honor to live with these amazing dogs and be the recipient of so much Golden love! These photos are the 2020 photo updates from our Loveline families. Thank you to all of you who have shared your lives with us! See more

Chece, Jubilee and I spent a delightful day of testing and training near Blue Ridge, GA yesterday. We were graciously hosted by Sherry Scruggs, a National Search Dog Alliance Evaluator and very experienced SAR person. We spent the majority of the day testing Chece in order to pass her NSDA Land HRD certification. And Chece passed! Congratulations to Chece on her first national HRD certification! Hopefully the first of many! Chece did a really good job in the field. We ...had one error and it was definitely my fault....it is always handler error! But we got an immediate retest and passed with plenty of time to spare and a dramatic ending to the test, which scared both Sherry and me to death! Chece tried to convince me that Sherry had placed an HR source outside of the boundaries of the test sector. I knew she was lying, but if I made a mistake in the call, we would fail the test and have to wait 3 months to retest. And of course I was not thinking clearly because it was a TEST! Auugggg! But I stopped, looked at the boundaries, looked at my awesome dog acting like a 3 year old kid trying to convince me that her lie was really the truth. Finally logic kicked in and I called a finish for that sector. Sherry gave a huge sigh of relief! That was stressful! LOL! After the test, Sherry took some time to let me see her awesome German Short Haired Pointers work some speed drills and then we let Jubilee work a small sector and learned a few games to do with her in her training. I am so grateful to Sherry for taking a day out of her life to set up this test and for helping me with Jubilee's, as well as Chece's training! Looking forward to working with Sherry again in the near future! See more
