James Truette Howard, Sr., 92, of Helena, GA., died Monday, April 2, 2018 in McRae, GA surrounded by his family. He was the former Mayor of Helena for 28 years, a car salesman for Selph Motor Company and a member of Helena Baptist Church. Truette was preceded in death by his parents, the late Charlie and Ammie Purvis Howard. Services will be held Wednesday, April 4th at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Lowe’s Funeral Home and interment will follow in the Helena City Cemetery. Joseph Joe Cheek, 91, of Rhine, died Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at his residence after a brief illness. Joe was a member of Rhine Baptist Church, a Deacon, noted woodworker and Master Carpenter. He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army and Veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Air Force. Robert McLaughlin, 70, of McRae, formerly of Savannah, died on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, in Dublin at the Serenity Hospice House.
