Taxes The filing deadline has been moved to July 15th. I suggest not waiting, as the longer we wait the more we forget about it. Even if you owe taxes, filing now and paying later is a much better option. Unemployment The Georgia Department of Labor has information about when and how you can file, even if you are self-employed. They are hoping to have the website for those that are self-employed available on Monday, April 13th. The website to start at is https://dol.georgia....gov/gdol-covid-19-information Stimulus Checks The IRS has a non-filer portal for people who do not file returns. This will not result in any tax liability or requirement to file a tax return The website to start at is https://www.irs.gov/coro/non-filers-enter-payment-info-here. If you receive Social Security retirement or disability or railroad retirement, and have those checks direct deposited, you do not need to use this site. The website that will have this information is at https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/economic-impact-payments, and is currently scheduled for mid-April. If you owe money or never had direct deposit, this is where you will go. Small Business and Sole Proprietor (self-employed) The SBA has been authorized to assist businesses through this period with the Paycheck Protection Program and the EIDL Loan Advance program. You can apply for both on the website at https://www.sba.gov/funding-pr//coronavirus-relief-options or contact your bank to ask what they are doing to assist. I suggest first contacting your bank. They may send you directly to this site. Once you complete the application you will get a message that an email will be sent. I know a couple of people have done this and still waiting on the email. That is why I recommend using your bank first. As always, we are here to help as best we can.
