Lucky Dog Agility

AKC CGC class will start March 9th at 7 pm. This class will meet once a week for 5 weeks. The first 4 weeks are training and prep with the fifth week being the CGC test. Dogs will need a sit, down, and short stay to be successful in the class. We will be proofing the test items so dogs will need some basics already. We need at least 4 dogs to sign up to hold the class. Class will be held in the big barn and participants will need masks. The cost of the class is $150. We are planning to have conformation handling starting next week, Nov 3 on Tues nights at 8 pm. We need at least 4 dogs to hold class so that the dogs have adequate distractions. We won't have class the week of Thanksgiving and the class will meet for 5 sessions. Email Melissa at [email protected] to sign up. Masks required for class and you can pay by paypal or cash - $105.

Next session we will be offering a CGCA (the advanced CGC) class and test. This class and test helps prepare a dog for work around more distractions and situations they will encounter out and about in the community. The class will start Tues, Nov 3 at 7pm and meet once a week for 5 weeks and costs $150. The last class night will include the CGCA test. Dogs should have passed a CGC test before signing up. A puppy kindergarten class is starting Saturday October 10 at 10:00 am. The class is limited to four puppies and is a four week session costing $100. The puppy should be between 9 and 16 weeks at the start of the class. The class will meet outside and both handlers and instructors will wear masks. We are starting an Intro to Barn Hunt class Wed September 16 @ 7:00 pm. This is a four week session and costs $100. Class size is limited to four and since it will be meeting in the barn we ask people to wear a mask. We have an outdoor sink and will have hand sanitizer available at the door. We are starting a new intro agility class Sept 14. This class is an introduction to the performance of agility obstacles, obstacle sequencing, and the basics of agility handling. These classes are for dogs and handlers with a solid positive working relationship. Dogs entering this class should be over 9 months old, confident, and have good basic obedience skills including recall from distractions. The dog should be willing to run with their handler. Participants move rapidl...y to working their dogs off leash. For dogs who are anxious or who are not ready for off leash work around distractions we suggest taking Dog Sports Foundations or our Basics class first. This is a 5 week class and costs $130. All participants will need to wear a mask when near others and the class will be limited to 4 students. You can take your mask down while running and we will have a sink and sanitizer available. Our next CGC class starts Sept 15 at 7 pm. This class will be 5 weeks and include the AKC CGC test on the fifth week. This 5 week class is designed to prepare you and your dog to take the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. The test covers 10 skills a well-mannered dog needs to have: accepting a friendly stranger, sitting politely for petting, accepting grooming and examination, loose leash walking, walking through a crowd, basic obedience (sit, down, stay, come when called), r...eaction to other dogs, reaction to distractions, and reaction to separation from owner. Dogs should come into the class with good basic skills as this class is designed to brush up the required skills and is not designed to be a basic obedience class. We are offering a Saturday morning puppy kindergarten class for puppies 10 through 16 weeks old at the start of the four week class session. We have created a group so that we can stay connected with our dog-people community during this time of necessary social distancing. While our dogs are probably pretty happy that we're mysteriously home right now, we don't want to miss this opportunity to maximize bonding and training, RIGHT?! Our trainers will use this group to share what we're doing with our dogs right now to get exercise, combat boredom and build new skills. We encourage you all to play along - we'd love to see what you're up to! From all of us at Lucky Dog, we hope you and yours stay happy and healthy!

We have decided to delay the start of our classes at Lucky Dog. We will do a two week delay and see how the pandemic is exploding and what the risks are in starting the session. I think with a leisure activity that an abundance of caution is a good idea. And perhaps at least by then I can find hand sanitizer for people to use. The instructors at Lucky Dog are sad about this decision because you know we love dog sports. We are all hoping we can start playing soon.

We decided to postpone the beginning of classes for two weeks just to be on the safe side. As most of you have already learned this is a very fluid situation so we will post additional updates if any other changes are needed.
