This week at LLLT we’ve had the pleasure of hosting Jim Sullivan and the GA Forestry Commission to search for predator beetles in our insectary sites along Gerber Branch and at our Core Preserve. The predator beetles are used to help combat the Hemlock Wooly Adelgid from eradicating the Eastern Hemlock species on our properties and surrounding region. This visit was extra special due to it being Jim’s last visit to LLLT as he is retiring. Jim was the first we worked with to use the predator beetle method releasing our first round in 2012. We sure do appreciate you Jim, and the work you’ve contributed towards or organization. Without you, our Hemlocks and even our organization as a whole wouldn’t be the same. #lulalakelandtrust

F. Scott Fitzgerald once wrote, Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall. With the coolness of autumnal mornings and the smell of changing leaves, life certainly feels invigorated at our Core Preserve.

Reflecting upon what the passing spring and summer have taught us, and one word comes to mind, resilience. A quote from our Letter From The Executive Director’s write up in this autumn’s LLLT Outlook We can learn a lot about resiliency by observing the natural world around us. A very real example of this is the relentless wildfires destroying much of California right now. Seeing the vast expansion of burned nothingness sparks an immediate sense of hopelessness and despair.... Within weeks the resilience of nature quickly starts to provide hope, as tiny green blades of grass, flowers, and trees start to pepper the blackened landscape with life. Wildlife resurfaces. Death and despair turns into life and regrowth. - LLLT Executive Director Cody Roney. Lula Lake Land Trust is forever grateful for your support along with our fellow communities of conservations support too. For more information and the full article of Cody’s written words, subscribe to our newsletter and enjoy a copy of our biannual Outlook. We hope@you have a wonderful weekend ahead. #lulalakelandtrust See more
