This grainy photo is the only known picture of the original Dahlonega Academy which was built in 1835. It was taken prior to the school being torn down in 1911.

We took advantage of the nice weather on Tuesday to take a drive over to visit the old Whelchel or Hickory Grove Cemetery. The last time we went out, it was in the late spring and everything was overgrown. sadly, the cemetery has been neglected for some time now and nature is reclaiming it.
