Today’s Macon Film Recommendation features an amazing actress from Middle Georgia. @karankendrickofficial grew up in Fort Valley and attended Fort Valley State University. She has starred in The Hunger Games, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, and most recently Just Mercy. Today’s recommendation, though, is Hidden Figures, in which Ms. Kendrick plays the younger Joylette Coleman. This film is fantastic and tells a really incredible and important story! #filmmacon @visitmacon

Your Macon Movie Recommendation today is a film inspired in part by a visit to Macon by Tennessee Williams. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof stars Elizabeth Taylor, Paul Newman and Burl Ives. Maggie the Cat and Big Daddy were both inspired by people Williams encountered during his stay. The film is available for rental on @amazonprimevideo @itunes and @google.play.store. @visitmacon #filmmacon

Today’s recommendation is our way to honor the great Little Richard. He created rock and roll here in Macon and that music is in more than 200 films. He also acted, appearing on Miami Vice, Martin and Baywatch. And he was featured as himself on countless television talk shows, concerts, telethons, and awards shows. He appeared numerous times on @sesamestreet, at @wwe Wrestlemania X and was one of the squares on Hollywood Squares. And he tried to help Joey win a PTA election on Full House (season 7, episode 23, available on @Hulu). Thank you is not enough. But thank you to the great Little Richard. Your music helped make movies! @visitmacon #filmmacon

We lost a legend today. If you love rock and roll, you owe Little Richard a huge thank you. He was it’s architect. He was proud to be from Macon and Macon loves him dearly. @ Macon, Georgia

Your Macon Movie Recommendations (plural) for the weekend star Macon-born Jack McBrayer. @comedycentral has Talladaga Nights on the schedule several times this weekend. And then binge the heck out of 30 Rock on @hulu. McBrayer is one of our favorite actors ... SO FUNNY! #filmmacon @visitmacon

Today’s Macon Film Recommendation is My Best Friends’s Wedding which features Macon-born Carrie Preston. While Ms. Preston is well-known for her role in True Blood and has had roles in so many wonderful movies and television shows, we need a feel-good, uplifting movie to check out and this one is one of my favorites. Ms. Preston plays Amanda Newhouse in the movie, which you can find on @showtime. #filmmacon @visitmacon @maconfilmfest @maconfilmfestival

Today’s Macon Film Recommendation is Oprah’s 2007 Favorite Things episode, which was filmed at the Macon City Auditorium. It was the only time that episode was filmed outside of her studio, and it was a surprise for loyal viewers here in Macon. Josh Groban and Paula Deen were special guests. Today’s Macon Movie Recommendation is another famous television appearance for Macon. May 27, 1996 is the date that wrestler @realscotthall appeared for the first time on WCW Monday Nitro, which was live from the @maconcentreplex that night. Two weeks later @realkevinnash appeared on Nitro with Hall and WCW overtook @wwe in the ratings for 84 straight weeks. You can see the appearance here: https://youtu.be/jmzj4if0sHo. #filmmacon @visitmacon

Today’s Macon Film Recommendation is an episode of City Confidential that features the story of Anjette Lyles, one of the most notorious criminals in Macon’s history. The episode is available here: https://youtu.be/HDLkuI08uZs. The video and photos of Macon from both when the episode was produced and from when Anjette owned her downtown Macon restaurant are a fun comparison to Macon today. #filmmacon @visitmacon
