Mamma Onesta's Italian Restaurant 08.07.2021

Fox 32 Chicago came by Mamma Onesta's today and shot a story about the onward progression of Second City Greens. I talked a bit about our own progression of try...ing to activily incorporate their produce into our menu. Im not sure when it will air, but it should be sometime next week. Congratulations to Rob and Ajay for getting the recognition they deserve! Lockport is on the rise.

29 years ago my Dad, JIM MOLLOY, entered Eternal Life. A special friend requested I post his eulogy so my newer friends could grasp who he is~ A few years ago I... had contemplated moving out of the house & buying Kevin’s townhome. I brought up the subject at the dinner table & as my Mom ran to the fridge to break open the Asti, I remember looking over at my Dad & he had this sullen look on his face. Within that same week he went out & knowing I had inherited his intense enthusiasm for sports, bought a Big Screen TV. I still live at home. But for this reason I consider myself fortunate, having spent so many good mornings & good nights living with my parents. They had this incomparable ability to turn any floor in the house into a dance floor & any room into a comedy club. Their antics made it truly a Fun House & their abundance of love pats, hugs & kisses, a Tunnel of Lovebut not the creepy kind! That liveliness continued throughout my Dad’s illness. There were times when one of us would be walking him to his recliner & he’d stop abruptly, start bouncing & shaking. Panic-stricken, we’d ask him what was wrong. Nothing, he’d say. I just felt like dancing. And I’ll never forget coming home from work & Mom telling me, Dad’s speaking in rhymes, just like that episode on Bewitched when the mother-in-law put that spell on Darrin! Sure enough...Dad finished dinner and as Mom assisted him to the recliner he exclaimed Off to the chair, man with no hair! That was my Dad. Highly spirited. Just a little kooky. Inspirational. Funny. Clever. Handsome. Unpretentious. Unselfish. Full of compliments. A Man who never let me down. Never. I used to think that 2 of the best things Dad ever taught me were how to waterski & how to hang wallpaper. Yes, as you can imagine, my Mom & Dad’s explanations of how to use a stud finder were completely different. But the most profound lesson Dad instilled in us was Trust in God’s Plan. And He would often repeat God’s Love is Unconditional. No matter what, God continues to Love you. So many of you continued to Love my Dad throughout his ordeal. Quite often as we hung your cards on the hospital room walls or relayed phone messages to him, Dad would start crying. I’m not crying because of my fate. These are tears of happiness because all of these people love me. A few nights before his birthday, I was tucking him into bed & he said Mel, there’s nothing in my life I haven’t done. Mom & I raised our children & had lots of fun doing that. So many memorable events & vacations. I’ve got the Love of my Family. Without that, a man has nothing. Dad never felt that God had cheated him but rather that he had treated him to many years of fulfilled pleasures. And a Faith so strong that enabled him to prepare without any fears or regrets, for a wonderful life after his death. One of his favorite Scriptures read No mere man has seen, heard or even imagined what wonderful things God has ready for those who Love the Lord. Dad got me so enthused about Heaven, I finally signed up for those skydiving, mountain climbing and bungee jumping adventures! Our next door neighbor, June Schultz, dropped off a message of consolation from a religious calendar dated January 30th, the day my Dad died. It reads Those who live in the Lord will never see each other for the last time. Those words have comforted me immensely & I hope they lift your spirits as well. I feel that my Dad is with me now more than ever. He’s with me at work, at the Riviera Health Club, in my car...only now he doesn’t have to hold onto the dashboard or grab the passenger handle the way he used to. Speaking for Kevin, Terry & Colleen, it was fun sharing our Dad with you. We encourage you to talk to him. He can hear you better now. He used to remind us, I won’t have to wear hearing aids in Heaven. And hold onto one of Dad’s final thoughts & beliefs: Don’t settle into sadness or remain so upset; I’m just going on vacation.
