I am returning to the salon next week on a limited schedule. For the time being, I will be taking clients on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. I have also opened up every other Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Please reserve the Saturday appointments for those who are unable to book during the week due to work schedules or other obligations since I am unable to work weekends at this time. Out of concern for high risk family members and childcare complications, Manic Talons will remain closed through the month of May. As we get closer to June, I will re-evaluate the situation and share an update with tentative re-opening plans. During this time, I will not be available to accommodate service requests. However, I am available to answer questions via messenger and text as usual. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. I miss you all terribly and hope this will be behind us soon!

As some GA salons are preparing to open tomorrow, I wanted to take a second to talk about something most people are not aware of. In order to become licensed in beauty services in GA, we have to undergo 500-1500 hours of training (number varies based on license and area of focus). That training includes education on topics like chemistry, anatomy, diseases and disorders, and...wait for it...INFECTION CONTROL. Make no mistake, we are NOT medical professionals. But we do h...ave more formal training on infection control than most other, non-healthcare sectors of the work force. We also have regulations in place to keep our clients safe. WITH THAT SAID, it is also true that many of our licensed beauty providers choose to cut corners and ignore their training, and our State Board has a comically low number of inspectors to ensure that salons are following protocols. Sadly, this means it is up to YOU as a consumer to determine if your salon is protecting you even in a normal environment. Yes, there are nail salons out there that care more about the dollar than your safety. And sadly, they will continue to risk your safety. So please, do your research and make sure your salon of choice is compliant before booking and receiving services! Below is the link to the GA requirements (and suggestions) for salons to reopen. Some of these are additional requirements above and beyond what your salon should already be doing day to day under normal circumstances. https://sos.ga.gov//28%20Safety%20Guidelines%20for%20Retur

After careful consideration, I have decided not to re-open at this time. I will continue to monitor the situation and will post an update when I decide on a return date. With that said, y’all, I need to slide out of my online professional persona for a moment and just speak from the heart. Governor Kemp’s decision came as a shock to me, but I understand it. Many of my industry colleagues are self-employed, small business owners with families to support. Unemployment fo...r self-employed people is not yet available here and business loan funds have been exhausted. Those who are returning to work are doing so out of necessity, not selfishness or greed. My heart truly goes out to them. That is also why I am choosing not to re-open. I am privileged in that I am ok financially, and I understand that in order for some of us to work responsibly and minimize the risk of doing so, those of us who are able need to hang back. Those who know me on a personal or professional level know that I love what I do. It goes without saying that I miss you and our conversations, but this the is the correct move for me at this time. Rest assured, I will be back to creating mini-masterpieces and mayhem when the time is right. As always, I am available by text or messenger to answer any questions. ~Michelle See more
