10 years ago my brother in law was life flighted to Mass General Hospital from Cape Cod Hospital with H1N1 (Swine Flu). The MICU at MGH was at full capacity at that time. The infectious nature of COVID-19 is different, given that it can be transmitted by someone showing no symptoms and that makes it more difficult to control the spread. Panic isn't helpful. Staying informed and calm is. Buy what you actually need and leave enough for your friends and neighbors. If you're not concerned about yourself getting sick, consider being concerned about not spreading the virus to someone else. Consider limiting your contact with others as an act of kindness, not a deprivation you're experiencing. Thinking altruistically will actually bring more calm, clarity and wisdom. Thinking selfishly is what brings anxiety, panic, irrational behavior.
