Wishing you a cavity free Halloween! It is estimated that candy sales for Halloween will topple 2.35 billion dollars & include more than 600,000,000 pounds of candy this year! Tooth decay is caused by bacteria in the mouth using sugar from foods and drinks to produce acids that dissolve and damage the teeth. Each acid attack lasts for around 20 minutes. So, every time you eat candy, the acid attack begins again. The sugar bugs will be hard at work leaving all kinds of surpri...ses behind. But, not to worry. We will not be the Grinch that stole Halloween! Of course, you and your munchkins will want to celebrate and have a good time but following a few simple guidelines can help prevent cavities! 1. Candy is not a dinner. Make sure your little ones have a full belly of nutritious food before trick or treating. 2. Don’t eat too much candy. It’s bad for teeth and little stomachs! 3. Candy corn is not a vegetable. Did you know that Candy Corn are also known as Witches Rotten Teeth? Yes, there is a good reason for this! Candy Corn is full of sugar. 4. Give out some healthier options like raisins or pretzels. The kids may not love it, but the parents will! 5. Give your munchkins one piece of candy a day. Put the rest of the candy in the freezer. The freezer will keep the candy for up to a year! 6. Drink plenty of water to help remove candy debris until you can brush your teeth. 7. Brush and floss after eating candy. 8. If all else fails, just go to healthier options with this video here ;) --- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDjnaSmH0SQ
