Through Navicent Health’s baby’s first book program, each newborn delivered at Navicent Health will be provided a book prior to discharge. The program encourages new parents to begin reading to their infants from birth to promote the education of Georgia children. This week the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority (MBCIA) was proud to sponsor the Georgia Economic Developers Association (GEDA) annual November Luncheon. The event recognizes excellence in the area of economic development throughout the state of Georgia. MBCIA Executive Director Stephen Adams opened the event with a review of successes established in Macon-Bibb County. In November 2019, Irving Tissue celebrated the Grand Opening of their new facility located on Allen Road in Macon-Bibb County. The announcement was made during a ceremony held at their new plant where Irving Tissue President Robert K. Irving was joined by Georgia Lieutenant-Governor Geoff Duncan, Macon-Bibb County Mayor Robert Reichert, Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority Chairman Robert Fountain Jr., and other dignitaries to celebrate both the official opening of the plan...t and the announcement of phase two in Macon-Bibb County. The new facility represented a $470 million-dollar private investment and employs more than 200 people. The announcement of a second phase represents an additional $400 million-dollar private investment and 150 new jobs. Phase two is expected to be completed in 2022.
