To end our series of video interviews with the top finishers of the Raymond Andrews Prize for Creative Writing we offer a bonus feature a talk with novelist Anthony Grooms. Grooms is the author of Trouble No More, Bombingham, and most recently, The Vain Conversation. He teaches writing at Kennesaw State University and is a two-time winner of the Lillian Smith Prize for Fiction. He has served as a judge for the Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence, and we are very ...lucky that he agreed to serve as the guest judge for the inaugural Raymond Andrews Prize. Grooms was also a close friend of Raymond Andrews. In this interview he shares memories of first meeting Andrews, their long friendship, the advice Andrews shared with him, his own advice to young writers, and his thoughts on some of the entries in the 2020 competition. We are honored by his participation. Each interview is conducted by Jesse Freeman, Program Coordinator for the Raymond Andrews Prize for Creative Writing, which is an outreach of the Morgan County African American Museum.

Quintavious Proby is the winner of the inaugural Raymond Andrews Prize for Creative Writing. We talk about his poignant and timely story, The Other Side of the Leaf in this interview. It covers a sensitive topic, but one we feel is worthy of discussion, especially as Proby has approached it. We are understandably impressed with his work. Congratulations, Quintavious! Each interview is conducted my Jesse Freeman, Program Coordinator for the Raymond Andrews Prize for Creative Writing, which is an outreach of the Morgan County African American Museum.
