Patrons will not have access to services within the building. On Wednesday, May 26, please enter and exit through the McCain front doors ONLY. The ground floor doors will be locked and that floor will be completely closed to visitors. ... Please email [email protected] or phone 404.471.6094 for more information. Note that these plans are subject to change. The library home page will post the most current directives from EMS liaisons, as will our social media accounts.

Starting Monday, May 17, DCPL is eliminating appointments and moving to one hour visits. Capacity will be reduced at branches to promote social distancing, so a...ccess will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Prior to entry, each patron must submit to a temperature screening and proper face coverings will be required. Patrons no longer need to call ahead to pick up items on hold and are encouraged to use self-checkout machines where available. Branches will be returning to normal business hours soon. We all love reading, but do you remember the first book that made you fall in love with reading? Was it a story your parents read to you before bed or maybe the first book you discovered for yourself on the shelves of your public library? Was it a book on tape during a long road trip to your aunt's house or maybe a long series of twisted tales and grand adventures? Comment below and tell us the book that first made YOU love reading!
Earlier this month, JSTOR announced a pleasant collaboration with the Schomburg Center for Research in Black History, a research library in Harlem and an extension of the New York Public Library system. Together they worked to compile a list of JSTOR companion readings for the Schomburg Center's Black Liberation Reading List. This compilation pulled full-text articles and books related to racism, antiracism, and Black voices and organized the texts in a complementary open library for researchers and readers of BIPOC-Q studies.
