A beautiful day in McDonough for your firefighters to be out servicing hydrants. MFD services every fire hydrant within each station's response area on a bi-annual basis. During this process, all brush, and any other obstructions around the hydrants, are cleared and all of the hydrants are opened, greased, and painted. This ensures that all hydrants are operational and easily accessible if a water supply is needed to supplement the 1,000 gallons carried on our fire engines.
