This month we will be assembling Teacher Appreciation Bags for the teachers at McKendree Elementary. MCKENDREE UMC SPOTLIGHT // Karla McHugh, Financial Secretary, Administrative Assistant What is your role at McKendree UMC? I became the financial secretary in the mid-1990's as a volunteer and joined the staff in 1998. In 2016, I took on the added role of administrative assistant in the church office. I am responsible for membership, scheduling, reporting, and generally supporting the pastors and other staff members with their administrative needs. ... What makes McKendree UMC special to you? McKendree has been a huge part of my life since I was 25 years old. So many people that I've known over the years have helped shape me into the person I am and helped me raise my children to become awesome adults. The staff and friends here have supported me through some very difficult times in my life and have made me feel that God was always with me. I am also proud to be connected to a church that has such a strong presence in the community. How has McKendree supported your faith journey? McKendree has always offered many Bible studies and small groups to nurture our members' faith. I went through all of the Disciple classes many years ago and have continued to be a part of a small group or Sunday school class. What do you enjoy most about working for McKendree? The people! I like nothing better than to help a member, guest or staff member with a need. I love to work with the staff and laity to help make our events and worship experiences the best they can be. What is one of your favorite bible verses? And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Worship God outdoors with us! Join us as we praise the Lord Most High with the sun on our faces and the birds singing His glory! Sunday mornings at 11am in the back parking lot. Light continental breakfast available. Located at 1570 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road in Lawrenceville. Bring your chair and set up socially distanced from others, or worship from your car and tune in to channel 88.1 to hear the service through your radio. In case of severe weather the service will be cancelled. Cancellation will be announced via email, Facebook and on the church website by 9am Sunday morning.
