Georgia has both an Amnesty Law and a Good Samaritan Law which protects those who are involved in an overdose situation where Narcan is successfully administered and protects those who administer Narcan in a good-faith effort. We are providing a night of education and empowerment for those at risk for an Opiate overdose and their loved ones. We as a community have a responsibility to protect one another. Violation of the Week- SFC Teet (Region 5), was requested to assist a local agency in reference to a CMV driver hallucinating at a truck stop. Upon speaking wit...h the driver, it was discovered that he was under the influence of drugs and alcohol. With the assistance of Trooper Harman, a cab inspection was conducted and multiple cans and bottles of alcohol were found, along with a scale and hypodermic needles. The driver was arrested and the case will proceed through the court system. #gamccd #gsp See more

The safety of our family and community are our most important values at Melton's Driver Improvement and Melton's Counseling. We are wearing masks when interacting with the public and following social distancing guidelines. We have put additional cleaning and sanitizing measures in place between class sessions. In accordance with the City of Dublin Emergency Ordinance passed 08/11/2020, we now require masks for entry into the office as well as during class- unless doing so wo...uld harm an individual as noted by a medical provider. We have masks available for client use, but do ask that if possible students use their personal mask. After the scheduled August classes, we will resume social distance classes with the utilization of Zoom meetings. All registration may be done online and over the phone. I have been doing my best for the past two years to create a program in Dublin that is different from the other dozen recovery residences. Daily, I hear from cl...ients about the poor quality of service that is provided at other recovery residences in our area. I have heard about this for years while teaching Risk Reduction classes. I wanted to do something different. Something that would actually help people. I was very naive when I opened Glynn’s Place. I purchased an old home and started remodeling it myself. By the time I got the house up to code... I had invested three times the expected budget and spent twice the expected length of time on the remodel. Our residence is up to code and we have an inspection certificate of completion and a zoning letter on file. We have brand new plumbing, electrical and HVAC. I have a ton of my own sweat, blood and treasure invested in this project. I want to use this program to memorialize my stepfather Glynn Melton. I promised certain things to my mother, my wife and everyone involved. I would not allow Glynn’s Place to be used as a flop house for men to just get out of jail. We will never use our faith as a business tool. We would not take advantage of the men by hiding certain fees for counseling, food or transportation. We would not allow the place to be used as emergency housing for non-addicted clients. We will not enable clients at all, we enable recovery. I don’t want a big program, because that limits the ability to have a relationship with our clients. We have a self-imposed maximum census of eight clients. We are having limited in-person classes and students are still allowed to use computerized distance learning for a limited time during Coronavirus distancing.

Use your stimulus check to get your driver’s license reinstated. The state has granted special permission for DUI Risk Reduction class to be instructed on the internet on a temporary basis until the shelter in place order expires. Melton’s Driver Improvement Schools in Swainsboro has a class that begins Saturday April 25th. It will be completely on-line using Skype. The assessment can be completed entirely remotely without coming into the office. This may be the last opportunity anyone has to attend the class without having to come into the office.
