In January 2020 it became ILLEGAL for insurance companies to mandate you use a certain pharmacy for your prescriptions. Despite the law it continues to be an issue. You can act against them by following the procedure listed below. 1. You may file a complaint with the Georgia Board of Pharmacy at https://gbp-georgia.gov - In the center of the page go to Oversight- file a complaint- at the bottom of the page the reason for complaint is unprofessional conduct - Under the d...etailed comments sectionI was ordered by pharmacy benefits manager to use _____pharmacy located at _______________ to fill my prescription. I believe I was steered to the pharmacy and that is in violation of O.G.G.A. 26-4-119. I do not believe I should be forced to use a pharmacy against my will and regardless of plan type. Please contact me and I will provide records indicating that I was forced to use another pharmacy instead of the one of my choice. 2. You may also file a complaint with the Georgia Insurance Commissioner consumer portal at https://www.oci.ga.gov/Consumerservi/complaint-process.aspx 3. You should keep all correspondence from the insurance company stating that you must use another pharmacy as well ask your pharmacy to give you any documentation stating your prescription was rejected or the copay was higher . 4. If you decide to use the pharmacy you was steered toward, you will need to save the receipt showing it was filled there. Unfortunately, we as the pharmacy CAN NOT do this for you. We will be glad to assist you with the process if you need help. Please also keep in mind that is not an immediate resolution. It may take a couple of months to get it resolved.
