EDUCATION WILL CONTINUE TO BE A TOP PRIORITY FOR ME The Success of our children drives me to run for State House. As a father of 3, I want our children to achieve the American Dream right here in our community. ... In the state House, I delivered better educational opportunities and job-growth. And it’s why I went on to serve on the State Board of Education to fight for our students, schools, teachers who need an advocate and delivered the College and Career Academy. Education has always been on the top of my list and will continue to be. I’m running to be a champion for our kids and teachers again to put students first, increase teacher pay, and push for more local control. This is Mike Cheokas. I am the proven champion that can deliver for our kids and teachers. Let’s MAKE SOUTHWEST GEORGIA STRONG AGAIN! Thank you and God Bless.

A special thank you to Mary Marshall for opening her home for the event and to all those that attended. We are truly grateful for the tremendous show of support from all our friends.
Early Voting has Started - OCTOBER 15th - November 2nd. FIVE Reasons to VOTE: 1. Voting is a RIGHT that Americans fought for and many around the world are still fighting for. 2. STAND up and reject negative campaigns; those who take a gloom and doom approach because they don't have a plan 3. Every VOTE counts - especially in a mid-term election.... 4. Protect our VALUES - 2nd Amendment rights and Southern heritage. 5. Need for SOLUTIONS not just rhetoric - Mike stands by his record of service and solutions. See more
October 16, 2018 - CHEOKAS delivers his PLAN to make SOUTHWEST GEORGIA STRONG AGAIN. Jason Berggren, PhD, and the political science students did an awesome job of hosting and moderating tonight's debate on the beautiful campus Georgia Southwestern State University. I also want to recognize the many citizens who attended and humbly ask for your vote - It would be an honor to serve you in the State House.
Sec. Sonny Perdue made a personal visit to our area this afternoon to survey the damage done by Hurricane Michael to local farmers. He listen to their concerns and answered questions. Nice to have someone we know and who knows US in Washington. Thank you Sec. Perdue for caring so deeply for Southwest Georgia.
Monday Morning Pancakes in Marion County, GA - It was my pleasure to work along side these fine folks in Marion County flipping and serving the school students hot pancakes Monday morning. The event raised money for the REACH Scholarship program and I was happy to help - Superintendent Glenn Tidwell and Sheriff Darrell Neal.
My prayers are with our neighbors in Florida and South Georgia as they face the fury of the hurricane. Take all precautions necessary and stay safe during this time. Those of us in District 138 do the same. Listen to the warnings and instructions given by the authorities. They know best. Take care and God bless.
I guess code enforcement does not understand that government derives its power from the People. Jeff Joiner and his father, Frank Joiner are Great Americans. I’m proud of the Brave stand they made to protect our 1st amendment rights. God Bless America. Thank you. Mike Cheokas

PRESS RELEASE: Thursday August 23, 2018 Mike Cheokas, 2nd District Georgia State Board of Education Representative, announced that The Georgia Board of Education approved the Strategic Waiver necessary for the Sumter County School System to establish the College and Career Academy. Cheokas said, I was honored to make the motion in the District Flexibility and Charter School Committee to approve the language necessary for the Sumter County School System to create the Colleg...e and Career Academy. And was equally honored that the Board Item was approved unanimously at our monthly meeting. This is a very important addition to the total education of our youth. The Academy will provide our students with the skills necessary to enter the work force more quickly with good paying jobs or move on to a college to continue their education as a second or third year student. Our goal is for every student to succeed. And the College and Career Academy will lead our students on the path to success. I appreciate Barbara Grogan with the Americus Sumter County Chamber of Commerce and Mary Beth Bass with One Sumter for taking a leadership position in making this happen. I also want to thank the Sumter County Board of Education, Superintendent Choates, School Administrators and especially our Teachers for their hard work and dedication to the success of our students. (L to R) Mike Cheokas, GA State School Board member; Richard Woods, GA State School Superintendent; Scott Johnson, Chairman, GA State School Board.
