Dolan Suggs describes himself as a returning Middle Georgia State University student. But he’s a bit more than that. At 74, he is the oldest student pursuing... the University’s Bachelor of Arts in Contemporary Musicianship. He is likely the only current degree-seeking student who can say he attended the Macon Campus way back in the day, when it was a small, newly opened junior college on the outskirts of town. Middle Georgia State University student Ly'Asia Henderson has been in choir as long as she can remember, but it was Michael Jackson's music that really lit her musical fire. "I am currently enrolled in #MGA's new Music Industry program. "I intend to be a great musician, a singer, and a song writer for the best artists. "As a 'returning' piano student from the days when MGA was Macon Junior College, in 1970 I've had a truly wonderful life. After leaving MJC and heading to UGA I was pulled away to NYC, where I tried to break in as accompanist for Off-Broadway. Unfortunately and fortunately I returned to Georgia where I had a career of over 30 years in the Lumber/Transportation field in Atlanta. After retiring I moved back to my hometown of Warner Robins. I accidentally discovered that as a ...senior citizen over 62 I could go back to college with tuition waived and thought,' ah now at 74 I can try to get a degree.' And it was one the best decisions I’ve ever made. Although I’ve been playing for all these many years with churches and freelancing, I wanted to go back and get a music degree and I’m going to make that happen (sooner or later). Under the leadership of Dr. Lanning, and piano lessons with Dr. Kim, and theory with Mr. Cantwell it’s a sure thing. I am enjoying myself to the nth degree and what is making it otherwise so exciting is how welcoming all the ‘young’ students have made me feel. Middle Georgia State University #Music is proud of Gini Dart, from Warner Robins, GA. Gini has been making music for as long as she can remember, playing the euphonium, mellophone, trumpet, french horn, percussion and singing! This semester, she is coupling her euphonium lessons with guitar lessons. After a few years off, she is back at #MGA to finish her degree and she is doing it with style! It is a pleasure to help students complete their studies. Never give up! Be like Gini! Gini is a euphonium student of Mr. Jonathan Baker. MGA Music: it's all that.

Middle Georgia State University #Music is putting the spotlight on Freshman, Julianna English, from East Cobb. She has written/directed/performed in community theater and school productions and has been a choir member since her elementary school days! She managed and was lead singer of a rock and blues cover band based out of Decatur. "My post-college goal is to write and perform contemporary rock and blues music (hopefully with a new band). I am excited to meet new people and gain a different kind of understanding and perspective of what it takes to be a vocalist through studying music!" #MGA Music: it's all that.
