A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A WIFE/MOTHER/FARMER: Got hubby John off to work by 6am, got a load of clothes in the dryer and one started in the washer. Made 9 quarts of... yogurt with our goat's milk. Emptied and reloaded dishwasher ( with milk jars!). Now it is time to get started on the real chores! Heading outside to feed and milk up. See you later with a more about what happens daily in the life of a wife/mother/farmer... See more

A glorious evening to all! I know of many of you are "jonesing" for our lives to return to what we consider the norm but please remember "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them. We don't have to meet in large groups or churches to study the word and will of our Lord. I ask you to use this time wisely to work on your relationships with those you have at home and with THE ONE who holds us in HIS hands. For those of you with children home remember educ...ation is not all about books and papers. Get your kids out, get your hands dirty and plant some seeds- study botany. Dust of the binoculars and go bird watching. Start a journal and do research on those you see. Find you a good app with good pictures of plants of Georgia (or whatever area you are in). Have your kids do or help with meal plans- heck- let them do the cooking! Don't forget though, to allow yourself some "me" time! Your kids don't have to be entertained 24/7. Teach them how to entertain themselves--and not on the phone! God bless each and every one of you! See more

Oh, what a beautiful morning! Oh, what a beautiful day! Oh, what a wonderful day! I've got a wonderful feeling everything's going God's way! I just wanted to take a moment to share some (hopefully) helpful suggestions and ideas. for those of you who are now dealing with teaching your children at home. I have homeschooled all eight of my children over the last 30 years. Boy, has our resources changed! We now have so many ways to gain help and information. Remember, you don't ...have to teach in the same method of public school. That's the beauty of homeschooling. It can be modeled after your child's needs! Stuck for how to get started? Homeschool Legal Defense Foundation has some good information. Need help with a subject? Check out Khan Academy. Hey, it's free and so awesome! All the basic school stuff plus things like computer programing and SAT practice. Need to be a little more regimental? Need actual school classes assigned? Check out Acellus. It's $25 a month per child and it is a great resource of teachers. It allows you to do placement testing and then add courses to the child's curriculum. Remember God has this! We do have farm fresh eggs, goat's milk soap, raw goat's milk (pet food licensed), and baby lettuce available! I also have some cute lamancha/nubian cross bucklings and a few select doelings for sale. See more

I had thought to add to my post about "A Day in the Life of a Wife/Mother/Farmer at lunch, however, I was still working on some of the heavier chores and didn't... want to stop. My previous post left off at 8AM. Usually, around 8AM is when is when we (meaning Thelma, Susie, and myself) do the daily morning feeding chores. 14 dairy goats, 5 horses, 50 chickens, a pack of dogs, and a clowder of cats (yes that is what a large group of cats are called!) are eagerly awaiting our services. We feed, water, and love on them. This morning there are still 4 does in milk so that must be done. We are usually done by 9AM and the girls get on their schoolwork. This morning I continued on outside trimming 4 of the doe's hooves and then moving one of our portable Premier fences that holds one group of goats. I finished with that about noon and grabbed a quick lunch. Spent a couple of hours pressure washing a few items that had been waiting for a while. Having finished with the heavy bulk of my chores for the day I cleaned up and checked with the girls to see how their school had progressed and started our evening meal preparations. I hope I didn't bore you with the details of my day. I have friends that always ask me how we do it all. Well, we start each day with a little talk with our Heavenly Father then put one foot in front of the other till it's bedtime and end our day with a glad thanks to the Good Lord! The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you! See more
