My Man Cave will be closing 7/31/2020. I have to say that I'm very disappointed in my Columbus GA brothers and sisters. We opened My Man Cave Mens Consignment store in October, 2019. Since the beginning, we have reached out to family and friends, via telephone, text, we advertised on TV and radio, which was a struggle as we weren't making any money. The idea of the store wasn't all about making money, but about helping revitalize the neighborhood, bringing opportunities to th...e neighborhood. The idea of Black people keeping their money within our own communities, isn't far-fetched. The Black dollar circulates 23 times in every other community, however, it circulates One time in our own community. I'm saying all of this to let you know that we will be closing our store at the end of the month. Yes, we tried receiving the loans, but were rejected more than once. We are not so much worried about our loss, but the loss to the community. The idea of the Consignment store was to allow everyone to make money. You bring your new and gently used items to us, we display them and sell them for you, then we split the money. Everyone wins. Unfortunately, nobody won here. We never received much support, even from the people we know. So as we go forward, we can only wish for the best for Columbus and pray that the Black-owned businesses that are remaining here, survive.
