Hello everyone! My horse lives right outside of Savannah and we are trying to make hurricane plans. Would any one have a trailer available to bring him to Athens?

Hello Everyone and all fur friends, We are back to the regularly scheduled programming! My arm has healed to almost full capacity with just a couple of bad days here and there. Thank goodness that is behind now!

Public Post 4: Has this felt like an eternity to anyone else?! LOL. I think I will be able to groom next week. I will have to put a limit on size, for the time being, unfortunately. While I am now able to do light, simple work around the house, heavier tasks leave their lasting mark. I will resume on Tuesday the 21st. Let's try with my fur friends 20lb or below next week and then I can assess my ability to increase the weight limit. Thank you so much for all your kind words and patience! I am so excited to see everyone and their fur babies really soon!!

Public Post: Hello all fur friends and parents! :) Today I had a trial run and groomed a couple pups. I much enjoyed being with my fur friends again, sadly enough my arm is now protesting. I believe it will be best to hold off until next week. While I am not in the agonizing pain I was in before the procedure and right after, my arm is just not ready yet. I am sincerely sorry for any inconveniences this has caused. I am diligently icing my arm to speed the recovery.

Public Post 3: Hello! Well it has been 1 week since the procedure and typing is quite a bit easier. I do not believe I will be able to meet the challenge of grooming this week. After my appointment on Thursday I hope to have a more clear time frame. Sorry again for any inconvenience this may have caused. I miss all my fur babies so much.

Public Post 2: So today is the day of the procedure. About to head out in a few minutes, just wanted to drop a line. It is highly unlikely I'll post after because I don't think I'll be lucid enough. I will do my best to keep everyone updated though. Man am I missing my morning coffee today!!

What more do you need?

Hello Everyone! Public update 1 As some of you have noticed I have not been taking appointments. I am currently on medical leave. While I know this is an inconvenience for all my fur friends, it is a necessity. I have had consultations with a number doctors and have pinpointed the issue. I will be having a procedure done towards the end of the month which shall allow me to return to work. If all goes well I foresee myself returning to work in the second week of October. While I would love to begin booking, I do not think that would be the responsible thing to do until the procedure is finished and deemed successful. I will continue to use this medium as a platform for updates.

Hey everyone! Just got back from my 4th of July/family/wedding anniversary Vacation. I will be tackling missed phone calls and text. Sorry about no prior warning, but having a home based business and all I could not advertise I would be gone for a week!

UPDATE 2/24: At this point, Matthew has had his stitches removed and been able to receive vaccinations. He's still at the vet's office because of an infection t...hat hasn't cleared up, but he's doing great and receiving lots of TLC! UPDATE 2/17: Matthew is doing great! He has a good appetite, and his red blood cell count has already increased significantly. The wound on his neck is healing nicely; the vet was able to remove his drain yesterday and there are no signs of infection. We are hopeful he will be able to receive his basic vaccinations on Monday and move to a foster home at that time. We've got another super-needy pup; Matthew came in as a stray today and needed immediate medical care. We need to raise funds to cover his costs and to have on hand for the next needy pup--we've had a run of high need dogs (Jasper & Sasha both spent a while at the vet before being well enough to move to the shelter). Can you help, by donating and/or sharing? UPDATE 2/14: Matthew did great overnight; while he's not yet out of the woods, each day he survives greatly increases his odds. As of this morning, he was eating, drinking and urinating without a problem. He is alert and sitting up, watching all that is going on in the vet's office around him. He still has difficulty walking and we won't know for several days whether he has an underlying medical condition that led to his starvation, or if he simply did not have access to food. Matthew is a friendly young adult pup who desperately needs medical care! He was picked up by Athens-Clarke County Animal Control today, matted and weak, unable to stand initially on his own. He is at Firehall 4 Animal Hospital right now getting the care he needs, but we're not yet sure he will make it. He needs your help to have a chance! (Please, no visitors though--he is too weak.) While Matthew weighed a little over 10 pounds before he was shaved, a little over a pound of that was dirty and matted fur. He is severely dehydrated, has an infected laceration on his neck, and a puncture wound on his anus. His hematocrit--percent red blood cells in his blood--is critically low at 21% (40-59% is normal and his is actually likely lower due to the dehydration). We've had a run of emaciated dogs recently, and so far have been successful with bringing them all back to health, but our Medical Fund is running low; we need donations to ensure Matthew gets the care he needs and to have on hand for the next needy pup. Can you help? Athenspets is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping the animals at Athens-Clarke County Animal Control find adoptive homes or rescue placements and reducing pet overpopulation in the Athens (GA) area. We are the only source of funds for medically-necessary care for the animals like Matthew who need some help to make it to their forever homes. All contributions are spent on the animals, and are tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law.
