Hi Northside Family! There will be no livestream tonight at 6:30 p.m. due to the fact that we will be using the Sanctuary at that time to pre-record this comin...g Sunday's 10:45 a.m. service. We have been very blessed to have our Wednesday night service livecasts for months without interruption while many other churches are not having any Wednesday services or activites. We will be back next Wednesday night. We wil publish an update prayer list tomorrow morning by email. If you have a request, please call it in to Lisa at our church office, or email Bro. Billy at [email protected]. I'll be sending out an email update with other related information today or tomorrow. Blesings, Pastor Owen

Northside College Ministry 27.08.2020

So much nervousness and anxiety can surround us right now. Especially with the start of a new school year. Thankful for the reminder this morning that God has given us the opportunity to experience true peace, peace that will be beyond understanding for the world. Praying chapter 3 of Colossians over our college students this morning, knowing that as you start school today, this week, or sometime later this month, the Lord will be right there alongside you helping you navigate this season of life. #nbccollege #colossians3 #backtoschool

Northside College Ministry 08.08.2020

Hey guys! There is plenty of room on the 11:15 service so we’re asking college students to try to register for and attend the 11:15 service! Here’s some details about what to expect when you arrive.

Northside College Ministry 03.08.2020

With having my own children, I often see how God loves me and wants to have that relationship with me. There are times that I will correct my children with a certain behavior, and then God responds to me about my own behavior. Recently I was driving with my youngest son, we were discussing him going back to college and I said how I would like for him to call a few times a week to let me know how he is doing. I explained that I would like for him to call and talk other than be...ing called only for a crisis or money. I said these things to him because I desire to have a relationship with my child and not only be called when I need to do something for him. I'm thankful he reaches out to me when he is in need, but I desire something more. I desire for us to have a relationship. And that's when it hit me...as God said "Yeah me too!" The way I desire to have a relationship with my children and not being called only when there is a problem is what God desires for us. He wants to have a relationship with us and not only turn to Him so He can get us out of something. It's about having that time with Him every day and spending precious time in studying the Word and in prayer. Like most, I am guilty of not having a consistent time but the time with Him is time I never regret. "Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him". Psalm 34:8 In order for us to "taste" our food, one must slow down and savor each bite. Most of us quickly eat a snack or meal so we can to go onto the next thing. Some of our relationships with God might be the same way. We give Him a quick word and prayer and off to the next thing. But "taste and see" requires us to slow down and savor our time with God. A real relationship is where both parties want to spend the time with each other and enjoy the fellowship with one another. Just as I long to have a relationship with my college aged son, God longs for a relationship with me. It's about quality time together and not only calling when I need something. Time with God is never a waste of time. I pray that you will have a desire to spend time with God; to savor his Word and spend time in prayer. I pray that you will desire to have a relationship with God this week. -Jodi See more

Northside College Ministry 05.07.2020

We’ve been having some discussions and putting together some plans for Northside college ministry this year but in this season of coronavirus, it feels as if we can’t plan much more than a week or so in advance because things change so rapidly. That is hard for me because I am such a planner at nature. As I was dwelling on that this morning the Lord reminded me of this verse. I hope you can allow your heart to be comforted by this verse as I was, that no matter what plans we put in place, the Lord will always be there to direct and determine our steps...and to be honest his direction is way better than any plans I can make on my own. Know you guys are loved and prayed for and we are working our hardest to rest in the Lords direction for the ministry. -Leslie

Northside College Ministry 03.07.2020

An encouraging read for this new week! The absolute certainty we have is the Truth of Jesus and He welcomes us all into the outreach of humble and gracious servant-hearted Faith. Faith that says we are all just people who are trying, people who are both His good and our bad, and He’s the only One good. Faith that requires His patient love and His merciful understanding and His servant actions and His willingness to suffer with and for the wounded.

A LETTER FROM PASTOR OWEN Dear Northside Family: I hope this letter finds you all healthy and safe and filled with faith. I am writing to update you about our... church during this on-going COVID-19 crisis. First of all, I want to say how much I miss seeing you! I was just beginning to know you and put names with faces. I look forward to seeing you again as soon as it is possible. For now, we will have to depend on telephone and electronic media to stay in touch. I am still coming to Milledgeville at least three days a week, livestreaming on Sunday and working out of the office on Tuesday and Wednesday. I am studying at home and staying in touch with our excellent staff and leadership. Our staff is meeting every Tuesday afternoon, planning for weekly services, trying to think outside the box on how we can minister effectively under these circumstances. In addition to the livestream worship on Sunday mornings, I am currently posting a mid-week video on our Facebook page with some updates and devotional thoughts for these times. I am a work in process on these videos and am deeply grateful to Taylor Tom for his editing skills. Of course, we are all thankful for our ministers and musicians for coming up to the church to do our livestreams. We are especially grateful to Austin Brown for his tech skills in making our livestream broadcasts possible. Speaking of broadcasts, this coming Sunday, April 5, is Palm Sunday. We will be live and online at 9:45 a.m. We will be sharing the Lord’s Supper. Many of you will be using juice and crackers at your home. Others have ordered and we are delivering prepackaged cups for your use. If for some reason, you don’t have access to livestream or have technical problems, we will be sharing the Lord’s Supper around 10:45 a.m. At the end of this letter, I have attached instructions for taking the Lord’s Supper on your own at the same time. Of course, April 12 is Easter Sunday and, sadly, we will not be able to meet in person on campus. A number of people have asked why we could not have a drive-in service. Several factors will make this impossible for us, including limited and divided parking and a lack of an FM transmitter. But most important for now is that local and state public leaders are discouraging these kind of church gatherings, asking churches to put the health and safety of our members and citizens first. So we will be livestreaming on Easter Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m. We are getting very strong viewing results on Facebook and on our website. Please pray that God will use these broadcasts to save souls and strengthen believers. Meanwhile, one great idea is that on our first Sunday back, we have a big celebration and call it Resurrection Sunday. I like that idea and look forward to making it happen! I appreciate your efforts at getting your tithes and offerings to the church. Although our first two Sundays were predictably down in offerings, many of you are learning to give online or are mailing in your tithes and offerings. We will soon have a secure drop slot in place at our office so that you can drive through and leave your tithes, offerings and other special gifts if you so desire. Please remember that, on Easter Sunday, we are receiving the annual Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions. Our church-wide goal is $8,000. Please pray about what you can give. Our missionaries depend on these gifts. Despite the fact that we are not able to meet together, there is ministry going on. I know that a group of our women have been sewing facemasks for our medical community. This week, we are feeding lunch to the residents of the Boddie housing community on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. (There is also a plan to feed hospital workers in the near future. If you would like to donate toward this effort, please indicate this on your online or mailed gift.) I know that our deacons have made an effort to call every member of our church and check on them. Many of our Sunday School and Discipleship Training classes are reaching out to their members and some of them are using Zoom and other technology to meet together online. Praise the Lord - the church is being the church. We have a long way to go in this crisis and we have a great need to grow in our ministry approaches. Please pray that God will show us the way and that we will be obedient to him. A church leadership team will be meeting again by conference call on Wednesday, April 8 to continue to monitor the overall situation and make decisions about a continued way forward. Please pray for us. Prayer is so important for us all. I know that an email went out this week with the names of all of our church members who are employed in healthcare, law enforcement and other related areas of public service. Please especially keep these front-line servants in your prayers, as well as all those who are working in essential businesses and services. Why not choose one of them and be a prayer partner with them through this difficult season? So this letter has gotten long and it’s time to wrap it up. Thank you for taking the time to read it. If you need to reach me, you can call the church office and leave a message. Or, you can email me at [email protected] and leave your number and I will call you. This is a difficult season and it may get worse. But we have our faith and our church family. Together, we can face anything. Blessings, Pastor Owen Bozeman Lord’s Supper Instructions Thank you for participating in the Lord’s Supper at home on Palm Sunday, April 5. As a reminder, the taking of the Lord’s Supper is meant for those who have professed Christ as Savior and been baptized. Toward the end of the online worship service on April 5 (right after the sermon) the pastor will direct the ordinance of the Lord’s Supper. We will first eat the bread and then drink the cup. Please listen for the pastor’s instructions and prompting. Many are providing your own crackers and juice at home. Others are using prepackaged cups that have been delivered to your home with directions for use. If for some reason you lose or don’t get the livestream broadcast, you may take the Lord’s Supper at home @ 10:45 a.m. following these directions: The Bread Reflect on the Bread representing the body of Christ. - Pray (or have someone pray) a special prayer of thanks for Jesus’ body sacrificed for us on the cross. - Read 1 Corinthians 11:23-24 - Eat the Bread. The Cup Reflect on the Cup representing the blood of Christ. - Pray (or have someone pray) a special prayer of thanks for Jesus’ blood shed for us, that we might have forgiveness of sin. Ask for his forgiveness of your sins. - Read 1 Corinthians 11:25-26 - Drink the Cup Though we are separated during this time of world and national healthcare crisis, we pray that taking the Lord’s Supper will draw us closer together.

Here’s an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community next week. You can volunteer or donate (or both), whichever you are able to do.

Northside College Ministry 13.06.2019

Since we aren’t able to be together on Wednesday nights right now, we’re posting a short version of our Habitudes lesson each week! Here’s the first one: Raise your hand if you feel like you’re already close to (or have reached) your breaking point with the current situation going on in the world. The Fish and Bread Habitude is the idea that the Lord often allows us to be broken as part of getting us ready to serve him in a greater way. When Jesus received the food in the fee...ding of the five thousand he Received it, Blessed it, Broke it, and Gave it Away. If we think about what Jesus does for us it can often follow this pattern. He receives us exactly as we are, blesses us and makes us his own, allows us to go through trials and sufferings that feel like they will Break us, and asks that we give of ourselves to others in order to glorify the kingdom of God. So today if you feel like you are at your breaking point, spend some time alone with the Lord to ask him, God, how do you want to allow this to change my heart. What can I learn from this season of life? How can I give of myself to serve others during this time? And most importantly allow the Lord comfort you. He doesn’t want you to go through the breaking of life alone. He is there for you to run to. See more

Update on church worship services at Northside Baptist. We will not have any worship services or other activities on our church campus through Sunday, March 29.

Northside College Ministry 05.04.2019

Dear Northside Church Family: I sent out an email late Thursday which was also posted on our website on Friday concerning the COVID-19 coronavirus and how we ...are preparing. If you haven’t read it, please take the time to do so. Many are wondering if anything has changed. Well, things are changing by the hour! But what has not changed is that, as of now, there are no active cases of the virus in the 13 counties that make up Middle Georgia - including Baldwin County. I have now heard that a few churches in the area have cancelled their services and activities. At this time, my truest feeling is that it will be safe to attend our church this weekend. So, we will plan to have worship services and other scheduled activities tomorrow. However, we will have a leadership meeting at 5 p.m. tomorrow afternoon to determine our schedule for the rest of the week and also the rest of the month of March. I am fairly certain there will be changes. We will announce the results of that meeting at the 6:30 p.m. worship services and will get the word out through email and the website afterwards. I am aware that Governor Brian Kemp has encouraged school closings and specifically advised senior adults to avoid large gatherings. That is only prudent. Nevertheless, each person must do what is best for themselves and their family, given their personal health and concerns. At the church, we are making adjustments which will limit touches on doorways, the giving of offerings and check-in for preschoolers and children. If you have any form of hand sanitizer, please bring it with you to use. We are asking that we forego the usual greetings of handshakes and hugs, and instead greet one another with a wave and smile. These are certainly confusing and trying times in truly uncharted waters. But our God is in control. I have changed my message tomorrow morning to speak on what to do when a crisis comes. I will be giving spiritual guidance with practical solutions. Please pray for me, for one another and for our nation and world as we all go through this crisis together. In Christ’s Love, Dr. Owen Bozeman Transitional Pastor Northside Baptist Church

Today is Collegiate Day of Prayer! Join us today in praying for students that our church is impacting and has the potential to impact. Here are some specific prayer points you can pray today. 1. Pray for students that are a part of our congregation. Pray that we as a church would love and support them and that they would grow and find a place to invest and serve. 2. Pray for students from our church who are away at school. Pray that as they are away from home, they would fin...d a church, community of believers, and would be a light of Christ on the campus where they attend. 3. Pray for the campuses in our town: Georgia College, GMC, and CGTC. Pray that the Lord would do a mighty work on the campuses and bring more students to know him. 4. Pray for campus ministries who are pouring into students on campuses. Pray specifically for Georgia College Baptist Collegiate Ministries that meets on Tuesday nights and their bible study for GMC students that meets on Thursday afternoons.
